Las Vegas doesn’t even have Amtrak service. Perhaps first connect it to the standard rail service.

Electric transit is fine. Electric trains are not.

A stupid project. Just build casinos in LA instead.

No date has been announced for work to start, but officials have said it might be operational by the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028.This isn't China. Maybe by 2035.

Brightline has a good chance of being up and running well before the California HighSpeed Rail currently priced at 130 billion dollars. Brightline is a private sector enterprise, operating a high speed rail already in Florida, so they know how to do it. Compared to most federal grants, this one just might be a good investment for the people. And it make sense, point-to-point transportation, LA to LV, as opposed to trying to cover the territory like the CHSR boondoggle.

“Train leaving on Track 5, for Victor Valley, Hesperia and Rancho Cuc-amonga‼”
Couldn’t help but think of Mel Blanc and his station announcer routine on
The Jack Benny Show when I looked up the current westernmost station being planned to be at Rancho Cucamonga, 44 miles from LA. (No service to Anaheim or Azusa.)
Back in 2005 when this was called DesertXpress, the western terminal was planned to be in Victorville, in the middle of nowhere, 90 miles from LA and 35 miles away from San Bernardino.

Brightline gets things done so I expect this LA to Las Vegas HSR route will be up and running long before California HSR ever carries a single passenger. And CAHSR has been under construction since 2008.

WHY THE HELL AM I PAYING FOR THIS! Let the market decide. If the casinos thought it would bring in money, they would fund it.
