OK, based on that presumption (that I don’t agree with for a variety of good reasons), I offer this parallel situation:

Minute #1 - arterial blood loss
Minute #2 - arterial blood loss
Minute #3 - tourniquet in place
Minute #4 - arterial blood loss

If you are unable to discern the difference, I sincerely hope you are not a physician, EMT, etc.

A tourniquet is loosened and bleeding occurs in order not to lose the dependent limbs.

and sometimes it doesn’t work.
