EZ-Pass charges $25.00 on credit card. As one drives through an invisible toll thingy, it deducts the toll from the $25.00. When there's only $10.00 left in account EZ-pass replenishes with $25.00. This is for cars, Trucks have a larger amount.

Those who don't have EZ=pass have to text to a number and they get a bill in the mail.

I drive to NYC and I have no clue where most of the toll areas are anymore.

One time I forgot the transponder. I was charged without having it with me. I'm at a loss how hochul can claim people aren't paying.

In New York state and Massachusetts they read the out of state license plate and then send you a bill by snail mail—if you have no EZ pass.

Presumably they have to communicate in some way with the out of state Department of Motor Vehicles to get that information.

We have never communicated with them directly—other than paying the bill when it arrives.
