Donald Trump wants his own version of the Russian Wagner mercenary group that is responsible to the president only, a former senior White House official has claimed.
Miles Taylor, who was chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security during the Trump presidency, said Trump wanted to create his own mercenary force which he would have complete control over.
He said while security officials managed to 'shut down these conversations', Taylor believes that if Trump wins the presidential election in November his attempts to create a mercenary group like Wagner would not be thwarted.
Speaking to journalist Robert Moore on 'Trump: The Return?', which airs on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm tonight in the UK, Taylor said: 'When I was in the administration, Donald Trump wanted to create his own mercenary force in the United States military.'
'He saw what Vladimir Putin had with the Wagner group in Russia and he wanted to create his own version of this. This is a real story,' Taylor said, adding that he managed to shut down the conversations by saying it was not a viable approach.
'But the year after I left the administration, that conversation cropped back up and Donald Trump asked his national security council to look into this idea of creating a mercenary group responsible to the President only,' Taylor, who released his memoir 'Blowback' on his time serving under Trump in July 2023, said.
'That's what we're talking about here. And I don't think in a second term those attempts will be thwarted,' Taylor, who endorsed Joe Biden in 2020, said in a sinister warning.
Taylor emerged as a hero of the anti-Trump movement with an anonymously published op-ed piece in 2018. At the time he was an official at the Department of Homeland Security

In 2018, Taylor wrote an op-ed in The New York Times under the pen-name “Anonymous” that was entitled, “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration”, which drew widespread attention for its criticism of Trump.
Several months after quitting the administration, again under the pen name “Anonymous,” he published a book in November 2019 entitled, A Warning. In October 2020, he revealed that he was “Anonymous” while campaigning against Trump’s reelection.
He was the first former Trump administration official to endorse Joe Biden and launched a group of ex-officials to oppose Trump’s re-election. CNN’s Jake Tapper referred to the dissenters as the largest-ever group of “former top U.S. government officials warning about the president for whom they once worked.”

Oh yes. THAT’s a given. Creation of TSA (and DHS) was unnecessary. All that needed to be done was to make airports like Logan International Airport and a few others actually do their jobs.
