Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has suspended his 2024 presidential campaign and endorsed former President Donald Trump.
DeSantis announced in a video posted to social media ahead of Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary.
The governor quoted Winston Churchill, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that count.”

Bloomberg had reported just minutes before that he would drop out and endorse Trump in the coming days.
The report cited “people briefed on the campaign’s conversations.”

“Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his top aides are having internal discussions about when and how he should drop out of the 2024 presidential race, according to people briefed on the campaign’s conversations.”
The report continued, “New polling from CNN and the University of New Hampshire shows DeSantis earning just 6% of the state’s Republican vote, whereas Trump has 50% and Haley has 39%.”
Many on social media noticed that DeSantis had cleared his campaign calendar over the weekend.
DeSantis came in second in Iowa, after Trump, and before Haley — but the former South Carolina governor is expected to perform better in New Hampshire, which is more liberal.
A poll conducted ahead of the Iowa caucuses by NBC News, the Des Moines Register, and Iowa pollster Selzer & Co. found that Haley supporters in Iowa are twice as likely to vote for Joe Biden as they are Donald Trump, should she not win the Republican nomination.
The pollsters asked likely Iowa caucus-goers, “If Donald Trump is the Republican nominee in the general election in November, would you vote for him, vote for Joe Biden, vote for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., or vote for some other third-party candidate?”
more.
What do you mean by “force Haley on us”?
Like, “force” and “us”.
There us an excellent chance the RNC will nominate Nikki Haley. She’s perfect for them. She stands for everything they do, and nothing they don’t.
“We”, or at least I, have nothing to do with the RNC. What they do is none of my business. I hope they want the best for America, in which case they will nominate Trump, but this is very unlikely (I already KNOW they do not want the best for America).
If the RNC nominates Haley, as I expect them to, they haven’t forced me to say, do, or think anything other than to redouble my efforts to see the Republican Party destroyed so that a pro-American party can take its place.
All I said way back when when Trump first called Ron DeSantis the childish slur "DeSanctimonius" is that I was surprised by it and I didn't like that stupid nickname. And I said I wish he would stop attacking fellow Republicans so much.
For simply saying those things, I was immediately piled on by a bunch of FR mean girls whom I considered friends not that long ago. Incredible nastiness because I simply said nice things about DeSantis and DARED to criticize Trump a few times. I know others here who got similar treatment from the same group.
Then there were the numerous threads gleefully bashing DeSantis' boots, and every damn thing he ever said or did. And all the usual suspects would chime in with hateful memes and comments. It was FR at its most embarrassing.
I never said anything disparaging about President Trump nor his lovely wife Melania. I'm a fan of both.
I'm NOT one of your DeSantis victims nor groupies. But from what I've seen over the past several months on FR, the nasty 1,000% or else Trump supporters FAR outnumbered any nasty pro-DeSantis supporters.
Oh... Trump supporters are meanies....but of course, the lies and attacks by the desantis supporting nevertrumpers is perfectly fine and acceptable by you....
because it appears you have the same two tiered system against Trump, like the left does...
It’s not humor. President Trump won in 2020 - how is that possible if he blew it in his first term?
👍
I have no idea what you’re talking about.
So because you're personally butt hurt, you'd rather the country be destroyed by the Communist left.
Nice character ya got there.
Perfectly stated
Wait. So they Do need our votes? Which is it? Please try and keep the MAGA lies straight.
None of the incredible nastiness between the Trump and DeSantis camps that emerged on FR this cycle is acceptable to me. I just said above that the nasty pro-Trump comments FAR outnumbered the nasty pro-DeSantis comments on FR. It's pretty plain to me, if you've been on FR over the past year or two on a regular basis. Thread after thread after thread mocking DeSantis' boots? How childish.
because it appears you have the same two tiered system against Trump, like the left does...
What 'two tiered system' do I have against Trump? Where have I specifically been against Trump? I've said complimentary things about both over the years. I actually like both of them.
So I guess it's verboten to simply praise DeSantis (or any other Republican - in DeSantis' case, a conservative - who ran against Trump this cycle) on Free Republic.
This preemptive strike on DeSantis by Trump is one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever soon. It’s not gonna end well for conservatives. 11/10/2022, 6:21:14 PM by nutmeg
“You are a typical Trump supporter, which is why I expect that he and the USA will lose in November.“
Arrogance is strong with this one.
You should be showing your arrogance and contempt towards your fellow Americans who keep voting Democrat no matter what.
DeSantis announced he was running for POTUS, was not that a preemptive strike against Trump?
Aren’t they though.
Ted Cruz did way better vs. Trump.
Cruz is my front runner for 28, and maybe even for the Veep-Stakes!?!
Well, I give him credit for seeing that and making the right decision.
Good skill searching my comments! Is that the best you could find proving I "disparage" President Trump?? :-D
I said it then, and I'll say it now: I still don't like Trump's childish and bizarre nicknames for fellow conservatives like Ron DeSantis (I don't really care what he says about RINOs Christie, Nikki, Jeb Bush, etc.). So what?
Did I say I didn't support Trump overall in that post, and that I was switching sides to support DeSantis?
And I was right that it didn't end well for conservatives. Trump and DeSantis supporters fought like cats and dogs over the past couple of years here on FR over who is the better conservative. Look how split the two sides continue to be on FR, never mind among the entire Republican base in the country.
There was nastiness in both the pro-Trump and pro-DeSantis camps. All I said above is that the pro-Trump nasty crowd FAR outnumbered the pro-DeSantis nasty crowd.
And... I still like both Trump and DeSantis.
