In a groundbreaking move for the New England Patriots, Jerod Mayo steps in as the team's first black head coach, bringing with him a fresh perspective on race and its role in the sport. Mayo's recent statements about actively confronting racism and acknowledging the significance of race in the coaching realm have sparked considerable conversation, especially against the backdrop of contrasting views from other NFL coaches.
Emphasizing the importance of his role, Mayo stated, “You better believe being the first black head coach here in New England means a lot to me. I do see color because I believe if you don’t see color, you can’t see racism”.
His words reflect a proactive stance towards addressing racial issues, a viewpoint that resonates with many in today’s socially conscious climate.
Mayo Champions Inclusivity Mayo further elaborated, “Whatever happens, black, white, disabled person — even someone with disabilities, for the most part people are like — when they’re young, they kind of make the spot hot.
Younger people know what that means”. He urges an understanding and inclusive approach, emphasizing, “It goes back to whatever it is, black, white, yellow, it really doesn’t matter, but it does matter, so we can try to fix the problem that we all know we have”.
This perspective starkly contrasts with the stance of Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles, who has downplayed the significance of race in coaching. “I have a lot of very good white friends that coach in this league as well, and I don’t think it’s a big deal,” Bowles remarked.
He added, “As far as us coaching against each other, I think it’s normal … We don’t look at color. I think the minute you guys stop making a big deal about it, everybody else will as well”.
So can Jerod Mayo win? Tony Dungy won the Super Bowl. So did Mike Tomlin. That’s the only thing that matters. Can you win?
NFL == NBA
A total jackass.
Well they can’t do any worse
The guy has barely coached in the NFL. Goes from inside kinebackers coach to head coach sees racism everywhere BUT his affirmative action hiring. Going to be big failure. Can’t wait to watch him and the Patriots fail. He of course will blame whitey and whiteness for it.
It's not that bad. But it's getting there.
It’s getting to be a real pain in the ass that the so-called people of color have to pimp their skin tone. We can see it. We don’t need to be reminded that they are black. Now we have to sing the Black National Anthem before we can sing the White National Anthem.
Saw some of the press conference with owner Kraft and new coach. He’s a diversity hire. Let’s see if he can win.
The fool’s job is not to see racism. It is to coach players and win games.
The Patriots can kiss their winning seasons goodbye, unless Robert Kraft can set his mind right, but that would be racist.
Bill Belichick is probably laughing his head off about now.
SI is already preparing to lay blame on Belichick’s sons.
I have never liked the Patriots. There is no bigger asshole than a Boston asshole.
Patriots had a historically unprecedented run of success. A complete outlier. Now its over.
It will be a long, hard, and ugly reversion to the mean.
Mayo will just be one of the public faces of that.
Does winning have a color? Because that is pretty much all the fans care about.
The Patriots aren’t in Boston .
……
Inside linebackers coach to head coach in 4 years?
He is gonna fail bigly. Too big of a jump
Definitely an Affirmative Action hire.
I have no problem if he achieved it on merit, but I am sure there are more qualified candidates.
NFL? Who cares?
So he is going to hire more whites, Hispanics, Asians to play for the Patriots?
Mayonnaise.
AA hire.
Good job Kraft.

back in the day, the brand new coach always announced: “We have only one goal: win the Superbowl!”
Now, in the Woke NFL, the brand new coach announces; “I’m a black racist, and damn proud of it!”
