I have a few class 3 items, and I am CC registered with sheriffs departments in multiple states. I think they would have me on their list regardless of whether I bought with cash or card.
Correction: Using Credit Cards for ANYTHING puts you on a whole lot of lists, they should only be used for an emergency at best, and even then you should everything possible to avoid using them, like waiting til you can go to the bank.
