Maggie was great. For Britain. Great leader, but President of the United States carries much more weight and responsibility. Considering Trump’s age and vulnerability to legal and physical assassination, this pick is very, very important, considering the precarious state of the world.

I heard Burgum on Fox a couple of times when he was first a candidate and he sounded pretty good. I think he would be a better pick than any of the women who have been mentioned, or than Vivek.

You forgot Margaret Thatcher but those women are EXTREMELY rare! Like finding water on the moon.

I also agree as a woman. Noem caved several times. If it were up to me the 19th would be repealed and I’d take one for the team. Most women are NOT logical.

Tucker Carlson? No way as far as I’m concerned. Friend of Hunter Biden, hates Trump, good on some issues at least rhetorically, wrong on others, no political experience. Lots of better options. Need someone who is plausible as a candidate in 2028. Carlson doesn’t widen Trump’s support.

“That’s the dead give-away for a donor controlled GOPe.”

Exactly right. It really hacks me off she succumbed to “business interests and legal threats” instead of doing what was right. She’s a squish. Not to be trusted. No core, inviolable principles.

I suspect you would a saboteur. Vivek would not help the ticket in any way. He was terrific in the debates. Trump should find a prominent place in the campaign

I would enjoy watching Vivek as Press Secretary. He would give those media jackals such a beatdown (based on truth) they would be afraid to launch any more attacks.

I don’t think so. Trump doesn’t want to turn the election into a referendum on the VP or turn it into a VP popularity contests. He wants the election to be about him, as it should be. I think he’ll pick someone different from Pence with regards to Pence’s GOPe ties, but with a similar, low-key personality profile to Pence’s. Burgum would seem to fit that bill.

A bit off-topic, but I was wondering if there’s a chance of Trump getting the endorsement of some of the Democrat mayors and governors like Eric Adams, who are drowning in the deluge of illegals. It would be an interesting turn of events.

The South Dakota "transgender sports bill" was nothing but overblown, virtue-signaling nonsense. I said at the time that it was a solution in search of a problem, as there was no evidence that even a single school in South Dakota at the time was dealing with any controversy related to stunted misfit boys who wanted to play with girls in scholastic sports.

Interestingly, I saw a report posted here on FR within the last couple of weeks about the disturbing increase of young people who self-identify as "transgender" in the U.S. According to the report, the number of "transgender" people increased from 2018 to 2023 in every U.S. state except one -- and that one is South Dakota.

If nothing else, Kristi Noem should be given serious consideration for VP candidate because she's a normal person who is governor of a state full of normal people.

No person whose full-time job is best described as “TV character” should be given any consideration for the job. I’d actually include that Vivek guy in this group.

Who was the last VP who had even enough testosterone to be considered a real man, anyway?

Believe it or not, a person who is a “donor controlled GOPe” is almost a necessity for a VP candidate. There’s a reason these people are always career politicians who are owned by the party establishment: It’s because the party establishment really selects them, not the presidential candidate.
