Why Aren’t Republicans Going All-In On A Winnable House Race?
Daily Caller ^ | 1/17/24 | ADELE MALPASS

The Feb. 13 special election in New York’s 3rd congressional district matters. Special elections can set the tone for a general election, create momentum for the winning party and provide an opportunity to test messages and ideas on actual voters. They also test voter enthusiasm and a party’s ability to get out the vote in a low-turnout situation. It matters especially for Republicans, as it could bolster their razor-thin majority in Congress.

This is a fair fight to replace George Santos, and both parties have put forward formidable candidates. On the Republican side, Mazi Melesa Pilip is a state representative who in 2021 flipped a purple district from blue to red. She is a black, Jewish mother of seven who was born in Ethiopia, immigrated to Israel, was with the IDF and then legally immigrated to the U.S. She’s a fresh face with an impressive background — but doesn’t have the knowledge on issues as much as her Democratic opponent Tom Suozzi.

[snip]

With a month to go, this special election will test whether Republicans can win over the crucial voting block of suburban voters – without them, they won’t win the White House in 2024. It’s also a test of whether the issues of crime, immigration and a weak economy mean more to the voters than the name-calling of being a MAGA Republican against abortion.

They don't want to win, actually being in charge will draw too much flack.
They prefer to be paid to serve as controlled opposition.
It's a cushy job with no real responsibilities.

Being total losers across the entire board is preferable to letting the voters elect Trump...

Simple…… Mazi Melesa Pilip is not on the list of Eatablishment, RINO, UNIPARTY hacks that will sit in the corner, STFU, and vote for who and what they’re told to vote for.

She’s deemed, already, as someone they can’t corrupt. Too much risk.

And while Santos ain’t no peach, after watching a little of that interview he did, f send his ass right back to DC. With the caveat that he is required to expose one member of congress, each week. Every Monday, a new person, so we have 5 days to read about them. No more of these late afternoon Friday press releases.

He’ll have to use the EO, like last term, to get anything and everything done.

The plan all along has been to do as little as possible the first year and then cave in all together to ensure that Trump has a Democrat majority in 2025.

Over half of the current Republican Congress is made up of moderates that really don’t want to fight anybody much less a Trump in office.

This explains why they did nothing about the 2020 election, the J-6 lies and the incarceration of hundreds of Republicans for made up crimes. They lied about all the impeachments they were going to do and they turned their backs to Democrats destroying the country.

Here we are, three weeks into the new election year and what has the Republican Congress done? (1) Folded on the budget (2) Whimped out on Hunter Biden (3) No impeachment of Biden or anyone else (4) Jordan manages to write another letter to Fani and her lover, Wade.

These jokers are being paid over 170k to do this.

Because the Republican establishment wants a Democrat in office that will do the bidding of the uniparty on illegal immigration, border security and Ukraine war funding.

Yes, it’s s silly question considering historical behavior of the Republican Party.

Yes, they want the campaign issues, the campaign contributions and perks of office. They are not interested in governing nor implementing campaign promises. A workable majority or over eager newbies spoil the plan.

Probably because so many republicans are not conservatives. They are leftist control freaks at heart.

“It would be a good idea if the RNC would replace Ronna Romney with Scott Presler. This week.”

Isn’t that the truth. Presler has done more in the past two years to register new Republicans than Ronna has in the past seven.

No idea. But if the premise of this article is that the GOP is ignoring this race entirely, does it matter?
