The Ukraine War Needed to End Yesterday
American Thinker ^ | January 16, 2024 | Al Bienenfeld

Posted on 01/16/2024 9:07:32 AM PST by Kazan

On July 25, 2023, Fox News Host Sean Hannity hosted a town hall meeting with Democrat presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr.

###

Kennedy summarized Germany’s reunification and America’s failure to live up to promises made to Mikhail Gorbachev, the last Soviet head of state. The promise was that NATO wouldn’t expand beyond Germany’s eastern border. Our leaders later took the position that America’s and Germany’s oral promises had no legal basis. This is not sustainable in diplomatic understandings be they made in secret or announced publicly.

###

The war in Ukraine had been planned for some time. Operatives in our State Department and Pentagon were most likely working behind President Trump’s back to orchestrate this. Why? An outdated philosophy that still sees Russia as the Soviet Union despite the collapse of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and German Reunification. The war’s purpose was to weaken Russia and diminish Putin’s stature, leading to his downfall.

Putin’s Russia is not the Soviet Union. The “experts” would have you believe he is plotting his European conquest. He is not. Putin’s immediate goal is survival. Remember, we have placed missiles in Romania and Poland that can deliver a nuclear strike on Moscow in ten minutes or less.

###

Russia has what it wanted: The Donbas and Crimea. Who really wants the bombed-out cities?

Right now, the Biden administration is desperately trying to keep this war going to avoid having to admit a humiliating defeat in an election year. The Ukraine war needed to end yesterday.

They want Odessa.

And what about Russia’s promises to Ukraine: to respect its independence and its borders? NATO expansion was not on the table when Russia invaded in 2014. The eastern European nations would not be so eager to join NATO if Russia did not have a history of invading its neighbors.

--- "The Ukraine War Needed to End Yesterday"

The title seems not to resonate with those who apparently think the war needs to continue.

One would think that on all sides in this geopolitical struggle surrounding the actual war would want the war to end. But then again....

As Herb Stein observed, "If something cannot go on forever, it will stop."

Time will tell. When time tells, and not before.

Black Sea access is useless without passage though Turkey.

Ukraine was NEVER a formal NATO Aspirant (yes it's a formal thing - an application approved by NATO.) Ukraine applied for fast-tracked member status in 2023 but I don't even think that has been formally recognized and approved. NATO has just been jerking Ukraine around playing world politics, IMO.

NATO is a solution looking for a problem. We should absolutely pull out of NATO, period.

Drill baby drill. When energy prices goes down, it costs Russia more to wage war.

It's not an automatic thing, but it does move the needle in Putin's mind on whether it's good for them to go to war/stay in war. And it's the one thing we can do without being involved in a new war. While we're at it, we should grow baby grow so that we're not as impacted by "the world's breadbasket" Ukraine.

One would think that on all sides in this geopolitical struggle surrounding the actual war would want the war to end.

The war would end today if Putin stopped his attacks and pulled his troops back to Muscovy.

But he won't. So that onus is on him, and him alone.

The US ( this twinkle Toes administration) is clearly the bad guys, ate up with corruption, war mongering, and a desire for another 20 something year war ( which we lost- to third world Muslims). The current path is one of destruction.

Their is good reason Ukraine was rejected from EU entrance AND NATO since 1991, known corruption, defaulting on IMF loans, poverty level just to mention a few.

Yes. The other big thing I think was to pressure them to give up the nukes they had from Russia.

The war would end today if?…
———-
….St Zelensky honored the Minsk Accords instead of bombing the ethnic Russian Provinces….no matter, Vlad now has 90 percent of them and he is NOT giving them up.

Vlad still holds all the cards….just one look at the Western leadership easily shows the outcome.
