Early calls suppress votes, where people either go home early, or then don’t go to vote at all. That’s why Trump was so upset at Fox for calling Arizona early, and Bush about Florida one year.
Trump may win the primary now but his chances in the general are still not good, especially if Biden is replaced as many suspect. A lot of the exit poll info was very interesting, most notable to me that almost all Trump voters had electability as the last reason they support Trump, showing it’s not something they seemingly even care about.
Go ahead and enjoy your victory tonight, as you should. But tomorrow will be another day, with Trump back in court, and the primary still under way.

If anyone is so feckless and weak minded to be bothered by early calls, then they should stay home. It is 2024 and not 1800.
The networks had an estimate based on those answering an entrance poll, so why shouldn’t they use it and it actually inflated Trump’s final numbers by about 5 or 6%.
If the networks did not call the race, they would have been accused of holding back and hurting Trump by doing so. Networks do what networks do.
