The Defence Secretary is set to pledge to send 20,000 British military personnel to a major Nato exercise in eastern Europe as he warns the post-Cold War “peace dividend” is at an end.
Grant Shapps will warn that “battle lines are being redrawn” as he announces the deployment of Army, Navy and RAF members to the drill on Russia’s borders in a speech in London.
It will be the largest deployment of British land forces to Nato since the height of the Cold War in 1984, a year before Mikhail Gorbachev became Soviet leader.

Common military exercises. No reason to read into them anything more than that.

Yet we are still dependent on the ChiComs for pharma precursors, appliances, plumbing hardware, light bulbs, machine tools, etc. I’m far more concerned with China than Russia.
So if England and Russia get into a hot war will NATO join in or throw England under the bus.

Math is so difficult. 20 K soldiers is a goodly share of their "regular" soldiers. But in all, this "pledges" more than 20 percent of its ENTIRE military for an "exercise."

Sounds as if the "British empire" on which the sun never sets is experiencing a setting sun. Oh -- to be an empire again -- sigh....
Why not deploy 20,000 troops to remove Muslim migrants from the UK instead?

It is not provocative to send 20,000 troops to the border of another county for “exercises”. Look at our border, no problem there
20,000 is less than a week’s worth of illegal aliens crossing our southern border.
NATO exercises go back generations, President Trump had us doing training exercises in Ukraine.
