Maine spends $132,000 of taxpayer cash on group who say state should be renamed DAWNLAND to honor Native Americans and that its place names - including Norway, Paris, Nipple and Old Maid's Rock - are racist or sexist

Maine officials are coming under fire after handing a $132,000 contract to a racial justice group, only for it to conclude with a 30-minute webinar on 'problematic' place names.

Taxpayers footed the bill for the lecture as part of the state's employment of non-profit Atlantic Black Box (ABB), which claims to 'engage the public in the collective rewriting of our regional history.'

In footage of the webinar this week, ABB founder Meadow Dibble urged attendees to acknowledge suffering caused by 'white settler people' as she rattled off place names Maine residents should feel offended by.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book has been rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street and building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And that process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” George Orwell 1984

In the not distant past, I got a horrified look from a co-worker when I asked him to hand me a pair of dykes to cut a wire. He had no idea.

All public land facing a name change should be sold at auction to Americans only, with the new owner required to change the name. Stop spending public money on catering to insane people who should be checked for other symptoms of mental illness before they shoot up a school or fly an airplane into a building.

There are many places in the Oregon Cascades which were named by the old gold miners— Jump Off Joe Mountain, Burnt Biscuit Creek, other names are of a similar character.

One spot was named “Whorehouse Meadow”. That couldn’t be allowed to stand, so some government committee changed the name to “Naughty Girl Meadow”.

I get the “Old Maid” thing, but Norway, Nipple, and Paris?

I do, however, suppose that political correctness led to the moniker of the Washington, as opposed to Big Dick, Monument...

Meadow Dibble. Now there’s somebody who needs to be renamed. Meadow Nipple would sound a lot better. Wow, a Karen who spends her life tracking down names of sh*t that offends her. I hope she didn’t pay to go to college. She needs to give Pedo Joe his money back.

“..Can Maine give the counties close to the Atlantic Coast back to Massachusetts?...”

The local Mainers in the 2nd Congressional District call everything south of Augusta: “little Taxachusetts”. They outright despise the bassturds.

‘Franklin County was named after founder Benjamin Franklin, who was an active participant in the slave trade and an enslaver before becoming an abolitionist,’ she said.

I had never heard that first part before, and will only assume for sake of argument that it’s true. As to the second part, really? I guess if one does a bad act, then nothing you do to reform and atone counts. How I loathe these simpletons

This is bullshit.

The French stole Maine from the Indians. We just stole it from the French.

Rename it... uh, La Maine... ?
