On the evening of January 11, two U.S. Navy Sailors were reported missing at sea while conducting operations off the coast of Somalia.
Search and rescue operations are currently ongoing to locate the two sailors
I pray they live, but I’ve seen what lives in those waters...
We’ve always had accidents. But I wonder if we’re having more of them now because we’re woke now.
so whats in those waters?
Lots of sharks.
Every deployment a few sailors disappear.
It has always been so.
huh?
Two missing at once? I find that highly unusual. I could see a scenario where two sailors were blown off the flight deck by the jet blast of an aircraft. I can imagine more nefarious scenarios but don’t want to.

Now just how the hell would someone with the user name ‘Mariner’ know that? /sarc
It’s true. We had a guy jump overboard when we were going through the Straits of Messina.
A friend of my dad was a livestock feed salesman. One day, when several of us farmers were hanging out at his feed store, he was telling us of some of his USN days during the Korean war.
The ship he served on was crossing the Pacific to Korea, and encountered some rough weather. Two sailors on watch disappeared.
But the thing was, he said most of the sailors were convinced those two were a ‘couple’. So there was some quiet suspicions about them being ‘helped’ overboard.
Back in the old Navy, queers weren’t permitted nor condoned. Not like today’s gay Navy.
As down as I am on the Navy of the last 15 years, I have said prayers for these men and with withhold judgement.
Without any facts, it could be anything.
Lot of sharks in those waters from what I have read.
My father was in the Navy (late 40’s early 50’s) and said the cook was gay and everyone knew it. But he was very likeable & behaved himself aboard ship and people just accepted him.
No one has asked what the ship was doing in those waters. Obviously, taking part in another war against Islamists. By the way, what are American interests doing in nearby Kenya?
