My college instructor didn't ask us about social identities during either of his World History courses. Of course, back in the Dark Ages, the vast majority of people knew what they inherently were, but if they didn't, they at least knew they could only pretend and not actually become the other sex.

I share your dream, but when I sub at a semi-rural school in a conservative area, I don’t see signs of its happening. Any slight disparagement of a black kid with no reference to his race is called ‘racist’ by several in the class. I expect the same for any criticism or comment about kids aren’t black is called ‘bullying’.

It’s as if they have instilled in themselves a one or two word phrase that makes them immune from any negative comments, no matter the source or validity.

Where do they get this? All are now constantly ‘on-line’ either on their phones or the school-supplied laptops/chromebooks. The trash/poison they receive does not bode well for our future.

This is not some rant from a geezer (well it really is!), but the change in what the average 12-year-old (and younger of course) is exposed to is really mind boggling.
