The Red Cross announced that it’s experiencing a serious blood shortage and that the number of donors is the lowest it’s been in 20 years.
The nonprofit, which is the biggest supplier of blood in the United States, announced the emergency shortage Sunday and urged people to donate.
...
The shortage persists despite the U.S. Food and Drug Administration dropping all restrictions last year on gay and bisexual men donating blood ― a crackdown that started in the midst of the HIV/AIDS crisis in the 1980s.

Let the fags save the day.
STAGE 1. THE “CRISIS”: Some situation exists, whose negative aspects the anointed propose to eliminate.2. THE “SOLUTION”: Policies to end the “crisis” are advocated by the anointed, who say that these policies will lead to beneficial result A. Critics say that these policies will lead to detrimental result Z. The anointed dismiss these latter claims as absurd and “simplistic,” if not dishonest.
STAGE 3. THE RESULTS: The policies are instituted and lead to detrimental result Z.
STAGE 4. THE RESPONSE: Those who attribute detrimental result Z to the policies instituted are dismissed as “simplistic” for ignoring the “complexities” involved, as “many factors” went into determining the outcome. The burden of proof is put on the critics to demonstrate to a certainty that these policies alone were the only possible cause of the worsening that occurred. No burden of proof whatever is put on those who had so confidently predicted improvement. Indeed, it is often asserted that things would have been even worse, were it not for the wonderful programs that mitigated the inevitable damage from other factors. Examples of this pattern are all too abundant.
No, thanks. Or is that no thanks?
The Red Cross is helping HAMAS and the Jew-Killing Palestinian terrorists so let them go to HAMAS for help.
So.. The blood from HIV/AIDS infected gay people is now okay to transfuse patients on the operating table?

I don’t think I’ve ever donated to the Red Cross directly. We have a long-standing, conservative blood bank in my area that gets all my donations. They still even defer active homosexuals from donating.
The Red Cross doesn’t compensate for blood donations. But it charges hospitals a premium price for the blood.
I always found that a little concerning. Yes, processing the donations comes with costs. But their “profit margin” per unit is funding their executive pay packages.
The possibility of receiving a blood transfusion from a gay is why I chose to do an autologous donation (blood donations that individuals give for their own use – for example, before a surgery) before a recent surgical procedure. Ended up not needing it but the donated blood then was pulled off “reserve” and placed into the general blood supply. Similarly, if any family members will potentially need a transfusion we will do directed donations for his/her use.
I asked my surgeon before my prostatectomy surgery 4 years ago if I should bank some of my blood in case a transfusion was needed. He said that since it was completely laparoscopic, with minimal intrusion, that blood loss would be insignificant, and advised against it. I probably lost less than half a unit.
The ladies there make awesome tunafish and egg salad sandwiches and I get a tasty meal for my donation.
fwdude, the same thing happens in my area. A local blood agency gets regular good donations. Red Cross drives are not very successful. They have no one to blame but themselves.
Our local hospitals run their own blood bank. They got tired of being charged a premium by the Red Cross while they were sending the blood out to other areas.
The Red Cross is a terrible organization. They take donations then charge high rates for the needed supplies like blood.
When Colorado had the Hayman fire, many people came out to open food trucks, giving food and drinks away. Not the Red Cross. They were charging high rates for everything.
Pro Abortion Red Cross.
I know they're uber-left, and therefore anti-science.
We understand how blood donation deferral related to anal sex may feel like it unfairly targets gay and bisexual men. Please know, the Red Cross is committed to achieving further progress and will continue to provide data to the FDA in support of making blood donation even more inclusive.
Yes, let's include every disease in our donation pool.
Nah, make it a gallon per adult male... in one sitting.
