Airline says plane was still at boarding gate when incident happened
A passenger on an Air Canada plane was injured this week after opening the door of their aircraft, which was still at a boarding gate at Toronto Pearson Airport, and then falling, the airline said.
In a statement on Wednesday, Air Canada said the incident happened on Monday during the boarding of a flight from Toronto to Dubai.
"While the aircraft was at the gate, a passenger who had boarded the aircraft normally, instead of proceeding to their seat, opened a cabin door on the opposite side of the aircraft," the statement from the air carrier said.
"The passenger sustained injuries falling to the tarmac."
Emergency services and the authorities were called to the scene. In a statement to CBC News Wednesday, a Peel police spokesperson said the person was "in a state of crisis" when the incident happened, and suffered "relatively minor injuries" after falling onto the tarmac.
"He was subsequently apprehended by police and transported to a local hospital to receive the necessary treatment," the statement reads.
Air Canada said the flight, a Boeing 777 scheduled to carry 319 people, was subsequently delayed and departed later.
The airline said all of its approved boarding and cabin operating procedures were followed and it continues to review the incident.
Stupid moron; put him/her on the NO FLY List!
He thought that was the door to the toilet maybe?
Ditto: that!
Here is a picture of the man being forced to watch Crime Minister Castreau's speech, immediately before he broke free and jumped.
The Crime Minister's Office refused comment.

I’m beginning to think IQ and literacy tests should be required when buying an airline ticket.
Common sense doesn’t exist.
Several Canada stories here the past few days.
May be vying for the top spot from Florida Man.
Because of DEI, I’m more concerned with an IQ and literacy test for the pilots and mechanics.
Don’t forget the plane manufacturer, the airports and the ESG/DEI of everyone else who has a role in putting the plane in the sky. I’ve got a lengthy trip coming... 1,500 miles. This is past the normal “should I drive or should I fly decision point....” However, things have gotten so stupid in the airports and skies, I’m tempted to just drive it....
NAME,,,,AND IT SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO FLY AGAIN!
Somehow I think alcohol was involved...
“The passenger sustained injuries falling to the tarmac.”
And?
It appears most people cannot comprehend the level of fear and panic that surfaces when a person has a phobia of flying. It’s worse than death itself.
I’ve worked with people to overcome this, and it’s not easy.
I could see how it happened. Didn’t see an “Occupied” sign so opened it…..
Poor fellah only wanted to provide for some cross-ventilation!
Regards,
AND...”He was subsequently apprehended by police and transported to a local hospital”
Er...”he was scraped off the tarmac and transported...”
1. Initially..."instead of proceeding to THEIR seat"
2. But, a few sentences later..."HE was subsequently apprehended"
This wasn’t one of those air traffic controllers we have be hearing about, was it?
LOL...now that you mention it!
