The CPI calculations that are produced each month by BLS are a meaningless number generator. The various globalists who have been in control (Presidents, Deep State, Congress) since the mid 1980s have tortured the methodology such that it hardly bears a shadow of a resemblance to the mission: to calculate a constant representative basket of goods for the purpose of tracking price changes. It does not do that anymore.
I’m sure that their formula can be “jimmied” to say whatever they want.
Didn’t the “basket of goods” for prices get revised recently to mitigate a sharp uptick in inflation? It seems that these metrics don’t ever stay the same, conveniently.
The CPI should be based on the things that people regularly buy. So what if the price of big screen TVs drops 30%. It’s not like people buy a new TV every year. No. The things we regularly need are food, shelter, transportation, and energy. All of those things seem to be 20% or more expensive in just the last few years.
