Going onto a Republican debate stage is not a debate. It’s an ambush in which the moderators are invariably participants. As far as only accepting fluff interviews, that describes DeSantis a lot more than it does Trump.
Trump has a history of wading into enemy territory for hostile interviews and undoubtedly would continue to do so if there was some benefit to him or to the voters. As it is now, there isn’t. Trump offers ample opportunity for voters to hear how he stands on the issues via numerous rallies, interviews and social media.
