Am I wrong, or isn’t the depth of 9km/5mi a shallow depth?? In fact it seems to VERY shallow.

Grandpa Lurkin lived his entire life in SoCal. He opined that as long as there are little earthquakes there won’t be a big on.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion, or satire, or both.)

In the big scheme of things, not that shallow. In fact, when the USGS cannot determine the depth of an earthquake, they typically assign it a value of 10 km because where the worldwide data tends to cluster around.
It might seem shallow because the bigger earthquakes that get media attention tend to be deeper.
In fact, a quick look at California DEC's page says most California earthquakes are at a depth of 4-6 mi (6.4-9.6 km).
A quick look at the USGS "Latest Earthquakes" map centered on the continental US gives the following depths for M2.5+ earthquakes over the last day:
6.7 km
11 km
16 km
8.8 km (this one)
5.7 km
8.7 km
3.9 km
5.7 km
5.0 km
average: 7.9 km

There is a great outdoor shooting range in Lytle Creek, CA.

I used to go shooting there. I did, too. Lytle Creek was a popular place to do target practice.

Lytle Creek, where all the gang bangers go to shoot...Leaving behind their targets...Junk stoves, microwaves, TVs, computers...Last time I was there is looked like a junk yard full of shot up junk...

BTW, for the folks still left in S. CA, Lytle creek is at the base of the Cajon Pass, right where the San Andreas fault is...

Didnt feel it here on the westside but was watching ABC7 and Lucy Jones(She’s always the one to go on tv after a quake) I missed some of what she said but she mentioned that this quake was in the vicinity of the san andreas fault line
To: Fiji Hill
The wife felt it in Chino, I guess the dog started barking. I was driving so I didn’t feel a thing. The epicenter is where I have gone shooting at a private outdoor range a number of times.
