A Substack report said officials in "the city of Skellefteå where they 'only' had -34C this morning, have been investing in electric buses, to save the climate of course! Their goal is to replace all diesel buses with electric as soon as possible."
But the city was canceling its buses routes "because of the cold weather – the buses have to be parked indoors to warm up. They say that the electric buses are struggling to keep warm in the cold weather."
...
Of course, the electric buses use their battery to heat the cabin, meaning that the range is drastically shortened. Is this the real issue here?

It’s notable that you don’t even need to get to these extreme sub-zero temperatures to lose significant range in an EV. And that’s if you don’t use the cabin heater.
I heard Greta T has a fleet of cars. Maybe she can start an Uber company supplying bus riders with free rides.
That and the battery itself is much less durable at the cold temperatures
We had that happen here in Upstate NY...a facility that had been used for 50 years with no problems now housed the new EV buses...which wouldn’t start in the cold. Sooooo.....what did they do....I’ll have to look it up again....I’ll be back...
Just another examle why it is absolutely essential to remove the lunatics from positions of power.
Additionally, wind turbines, that “golden goose” of the climate idolators, often have major generation problems in very cold weather. Solar energy farms also receive less direct sunlight in winter. So, when demand is up because of shorter ranges, supply is down.
Triple whammy.
Everyone else, just shut up and put on an extra sweater while riding an EV bus. Remember, EV range values mean nothing. Those buses could run out of juice at any time.
This is why it should be a FELONY with a 20 year sentence for ANY Public Employee to use no carbon emitting transportation to and from work, especially elected officials.
I heard they had some similar problems in Duluth and in Minneapolis St Paul area.
Apparently no one understood that it gets below zero in Duluth in the winter time. And so the electric buses were useless during the Cold snap there.
Maybe sanity will prevail at some point, and the powers that be will understand that electric vehicle was just on not appropriate for any and all settings.
Electric vehicles probably have a niche, such as for people who drive short distances, and don’t have to recharge very often.
But trying to force feed electric vehicles into other circumstances is problematic
“Solution: Only travel in the warm months.”
Seriously, how about gas-powered heaters for the batteries. A barbeque-size propane tank might last a whole day. Insulate the batteries of course.
A small price to pay to save the Erf.
Solution #2: Round of the leaders of the climate cult and put them in prison for crimes against humanity.
I’m not surprised. I see more and more stories of people who get stranded, or have to wait hours at hard-to-find charging stations on long road trips. It seems like a completely non-viable way to operate.
Using the heater in an EV can reduce the range up to 40 percent. For a large bus with doors opening & closing at every stop, I imagine it would be a significant problem.
ALSO Boulder City near Denver
Minnesota pols are so stupid they didn’t anticipate LED traffic lights would be blocked by snow and ice without the heat generated by the old-style lights. That was years ago and they’ve gotten dumber since.
Return to your roots. Winter in mead halls.
Put a diesel generator in the bus, the last row or 2 seats should be enough. Simple. You’re welcome Scandinavia.
