What’s been the “evolution” (or de-evolution) in Compton over the decades? Compton/Watts were bad ‘hoods 50+ years ago.
Compton was a farm and dairy town before WWII, and then the oil industry generated an influx of Okies and Texans, including the Bushes. Then the blacks moved in, particularly after open housing legislation passed in the sixties. There are still a lot of blacks in Compton, but they are being replaced by newcomers from south of the border. The same thing is happening in Watts, which was once virtually all-black but is now mostly Latino.
