Compton was a farm and dairy town before WWII, and then the oil industry generated an influx of Okies and Texans, including the Bushes. Then the blacks moved in, particularly after open housing legislation passed in the sixties. There are still a lot of blacks in Compton, but they are being replaced by newcomers from south of the border. The same thing is happening in Watts, which was once virtually all-black but is now mostly Latino.
south central LA, compton, watts even the san fernando valley is all hispanic now, the blacks moved to the inland empire and lancaster.

It’s really sad. Thug mentality will come up will all kinds of ways to break into a place in order to pillage, never channeling its ‘ingenuity’ toward anything good.
Heh — right now I’m watching a squirrel positioned at the top of a tube bird feeder, determined to get access.
He’s really clever and motivated, using his nose to pry up the lid.
Of course what eludes him is the fact that he won’t fit down the tube to reach the seed.
