1) Kudos for glossing over that little detail.
2) She probably knew.
3) The term “shotgun wedding” exists for a reason.
4) Not every couple that got “in the family way” before marriage needed that kind of persuasion to do the right thing.
5) In most cases that I’ve heard of from “back then”, the marriage worked out just fine.
We did show her the picture of her when she was just fifteen wearing a flapper dress posing by a car. She earned the money for it working as the cosmetics counter girl at the local drug store. She looked at it, looked at us, smiled and said "Your grandfather was very fond me in that dress!"
We kept that in the narration.
