ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two people died and two others were seriously injured in a fiery crash Monday morning outside the Kodak Center for Performing Arts on West Ridge Road. The FBI and RPD Major Crimes Unit confirmed that they’re investigating the crash.
At about 12:50 a.m., Rochester Police officers were assigned to the Kodak Center for a concert with about 1,000 people. Just before the crosswalk in front of the venue, an eastbound Ford Expedition hit a Mitsubishi Outlander that was leaving the parking lot. The force of the crash caused the two SUVs to go through a group of pedestrians in the crosswalk, and into two other cars There was a large fire from the crash that took the Rochester Fire Department almost one hour to put out.
Two of the people in the Mitsubishi Outlander were killed and the driver was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Numerous pedestrians, including a RPD officer, were almost hit by the vehicles. Three pedestrians were hit and taken to the hospital, one of them is in life-threatening condition, and the other two are not in life-threatening condition. The driver of the Ford Expedition is currently in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Once the fire was put out, first responders found at least a dozen gas cans in and around the Ford Expedition. The Rochester Police Department Bomb Squad and the Joint Arson Task Force responded to the scene. Police continue to work with our federal partners, including the FBI, to learn exactly what led to this crash.

Sounds Rainbow Bridgesque—except for the multitudes of gas cans.
Did we ever get some kind of ‘final word’ on what happened?
Cans...canisters...
Local coverage...
Is Kodak still a thing?
no but the name lingers on
I think the FBI kinda “lost” the evidence, the police pictures and reports and the vehicle that is missing from the impound lot. Around here somewhere.
But “There is definitely no connection to terrorism” “We are reaching out as we have no suspects or leads and have no idea what took place.” “But no terrorism.”
Auto accidents a federal issue now?
Before our company’s covid WFH policy, I drove past that building twice a day for decades. It’s 35 mph and 3 lanes each way. There have been some odd accidents on that stretch, some resulting in death. The dozen gas cans are a new twist.
FBI probably put him up to it.
It’s now a theatre for entertainment.
“Is Kodak still a thing?”
Ironically, there are no photos of the crash scene.
Sounds anti-Semitic with the large Jewish population Rochester has.
“You press the button, we do the rest”
People are still driving @55 mph westbound even though the limit dropped to 30 mph about a quarter mile back. That part of the city is all ghetto besides.
Yeah, entirely possible.
There are some vestiges of the company left, and they still make some film. At one time Kodak employed 60,000 people in rochester. Last I knew that figure stood at a couple thousand.
Who else would have a “concert” that ends at 1am ? You can’t even get a pizza past 8 PM because your parlor will get robbed. Rochester ain’t what it used to be.
Ektachrome is relatively easy to develop at home. It was my favorite for outdoor photography, but on the “blue side” of the spectrum, although blue does help for longevity. (Against fading).
