Yes God doesn't mess around when it comes to teaching and in the case of Hebrews/Israelites ordering how to destroy His/their enemies’ center of gravity through violent or non-violent ways to fulfill will/law/order/harmony of those He favors. Of course shallow thinking has a tendency to confuse people, especially atheists.
