A large percentage of police officers and firefighters are mostly conservative.

Progressives are arrogant pigs who lack self awareness. They can’t even conceive the idea that their voting patterns caused the problems they are fleeing. Therefore, they bring it with them. Like a plague.

If the California transplants are claiming to be refugees from the liberal state they come from, will they get court dates in 2031 to prove that they are actual refugees, or will they be accepted as normal people just looking for a better place to retire?

Retired California public employees are retiring to Eagle Idaho?

You have to be very well off or wealthy to live there. That’s what gold plated government pensions can do.

I have now read this article three times. The concern isn’t that the invaders are Republican. The concern is that they aren’t Republican enough.

Well, just gonna have to work hard to de-educate these people from their CA baseline. They have been beaten down in belief to accept what no longer has to be accepted. You are in Idaho now, act like it. Get over the California PTSD.

Luckily, Newsom has plans to remind Californians why they left:

I've been watching it happen since I returned to Idaho in '03. It's depressing as hell. These are largely people who claim to be conservative (and from a Kali perspective are) who still hold dear the best government is the one that does the most for you. And, unfortunately to you.

Still, not to panic. Can't paint them all with a broad brush. It isn't as if they're taking over - oh, wait, here two of them are running for mayor. We're screwed.

A native Idahoan friend said that nearby Boise is the witness protection program capital of the US.

Here's another side to the story. I'm Idaho born and raised. But when I graduated college, got married and started a family, I couldn't find work that paid enough to survive. In those days you had to specialize in farming, ranching, the timber industry or mining to make it. So I found work out of state that paid more and eventually ended up in CA.

I'm conservative and have never belonged to a union. I invested in CA real estate and both my wife and I worked hard at our separate businesses. When retirement time came we found our home had tripled in value and our businesses were worth a substantial amount. We cashed out and moved to AZ. We're not on pensions. We've invested well and hope the Democrats don't inflate away the value of our remaining savings.

The moral of my story is that the Simplots, Idaho Power, the northern mining, ranching and timber interests and other entrenched corporations, exploited young workers and drove them out of state as they did me. They lost their brainpower and their own loyal conservatives. I don't feel a lot of sympathy for the state's current dilemma.

I know a retired county sheriff who just built a house there, and moved from California, a month ago.
He’s as straight line Conservative as anyone, and a huge Trump supporter.
I don’t know how bad their problem is.

My brother lives in Montrose, CO and his newest neighbor is a retired CA fireman (that’s a conservative area of CO, but the state is a lost cause now...).

It would be interesting to know how many LEOs in CA are just waiting to retire and take their generous pensions to other states. I suspect they are a nice slice of the 818,000 that left CA in ‘21-’22.

Eagle population is about 3k-35k. Not exactly a “small town “. And right in the middle of the ada/canyon County population center, nearly 1M now. There is no open space between Eagle and boise.
