Russian President Vladimir Putin has hosted a summit of former Soviet republics and called for unity among them.
Putin presided over an informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States in St. Petersburg on Tuesday. Russia is expected to chair the group next year.
-snip-
One of the participants was Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
He is believed to have been frustrated with Russia since ethnic Armenian forces were forced to surrender in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh following a military offensive by Azerbaijan in September.
Pashinyan apparently believes that Moscow failed to fulfill its role as Armenia's ally.
He skipped a summit of a Russia-led military alliance of former Soviet states in late November, and is seen as seeking closer ties with the West.

A lot of the old enslaved nations are united as they came together as NATO partners.
Seems like Vlad is making his plans known...a return to the former USSR.
Earlier, it was reported that one of his media surrogates was spouting ouff about the EU should let Russia have the US military bases in Europe, and Russia would assure ‘peace’.
Now this stuff about reconstituting the old USSR...
My guess? He sees the end of his life approaching and is looking to leave a long lasting legacy...

The invasion of Ukraine has been a bit of a wake-up call for those ex-Soviet states that weren't paying attention when Putin invaded Georgia. For the Central Asian 'Stans, I suspect China will have more say in their future than Russia. That is unless China moves on Taiwan and fails.
Grow up, some of this international military stuff is important.
“Putin calls for unity among former Soviet states”
You mean like The Untitled States of Russia?
The way that you guys are worried about being gay makes me wonder what happened to you?
Here…show me on this doll where Putin touched you.

The CIS has been around since 1991. It has nothing to do with Putin ambition because Putin was unheard of then.
As for Armenia, they are a CIS member. So is Azerbaijan, with whom they are fighting. It is not reasonable for them to demand Russia take sides against another CIS member.
“...some of this international military stuff is important. “
No it isn’t. The strategic posture of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan is not important.
What is actually important to the people that live in the countreis of the West is the Third World invasion and lack of border control, which is common to every Western country from Poland to Australia.
This irrelevant, insignificant IR stuff is a deliberate distraction from terminal Regime decay at home.
It seems you shouldn’t be bothering with threads of topics like this one then, yet they seem to be your primary focus, your main reason for posting at all.
All this is directed into dragging NATO into another futile overseas war.
And I am opposed.
There is an additional Displacement aspect to all this.
Where zeal for Israel and zeal for Ukraine is a substitute and a distraction for lack of zeal for the UK, or Canada, or Poland, or the United States.
Poland is a perfect example. They are zealous for the borders of Ukraine, and they just voted in Donald Tusk.
All this is directed into dragging NATO into another futile overseas war.You are playing the Fear Card for Putin.
I do not think Tartarstan would agree the USSR was some sort of Golden Age. They were forbidden from speaking their language by the Ruskies.
