Title IX destroyed college sports for men.

Most athletic scholarships now go to women, which is PRIMARILY paid for by the football programs.

Let’s think this through. You spend 12 years berating and browbeating boys — white boys especially — telling them over and over again they aren’t as smart or good as girls, and punishing them for “acting out” whenever they behave like boys. (Unless they’re really good with a football or a basketball, in which case you adore them, even if they behave like wild chimps outside of the game.)

Then, when they make it to age 18, you tell them they’re now an adult and are responsible for making their own choices, and then ask: “So, how about it? Do you want four *more* years of what you’ve been going through from K through 12?”

Why are do act surprised when they answer, “F*** NO!”

(Except for the ones who are really good with a football or a basketball, who of course answer, “You means you gon’ *pay* me to go to college, play ball, and f*** all the stupid hot white women? Where does I sign?

(”Well, my momma’s gon’ hafta sign, ‘cause I can’t writes.”)

Trades pay as much or better than most degrees over time and can’t be offshored

They can't be offshored but wages can be dramatically reduced by opening our border. They are going to screw us left, right and center.

My alma mater recently published a list of student demographics that shocked me...

Female to male ratio: 60-40

Percent of Freshman applications that are approved - around 60%.

Percent of matriculation - 13%

My alma mater is consistently rated in the Top 50 USA small liberal arts colleges, so I assume this is a common experience.

Apparently, 2020-era students apply to a very large number of colleges.

Regardless, my alma mater has gone completely DEI and Woke, and the only thing I read in the alumni magazine anymore is the obituary section.

I agree. Unless it is a Stem degree or perhaps some business degrees, a BS degree is worthless. My underlying point was we are subsidizing women making poor choices.

I attended college and grad school from 2000 to 2007, earning an MBA.

In between business, accounting and statistics classes, it was a pride swallowing siege of grievance-reading, feminist hostilities and politics, and a non-stop battle to embrace victim/racial/sexual politics.

If I recall correctly, in six years of college, I was assigned to read Barbara Ehrenreich’s “Nickel and Dimed” no fewer than three times.

That said, fewer men attending college does not surprise me.

My son is currently a Finance major and advises, you can tell the quality of the class by the number of women in attendance with green or blue hair; the fewer in attendance, the more difficult and relevant to the real world the subject matter tends to be.

Look on the bright side: “trans” mania should destroy Title IX very quickly.

What do you think a plumber makes?

What do you think a kid with their 4 year degree in psychology, sociology, wymens/gender studies, ethics, diversity and inclusion studies, history, fine art, etc. makes?

However, it must be stated that there are still those who get a solid education and pursue an academic course of study which promises a good career, i.e. chemical, civil, electrical, structural, mechanical engineering, pharmacology, nursing, medical doctor, programming...

Higher education has become a “right of passage” and even those who neither posses the interest nor capacity are flooding US colleges today in order to make their parents proud and meet the expectations of their suburban upper middle class community. For them, if they survive the first year, they normally settle for an easy degree which just checks the block of having a degree: business, etc.

The government with all their no questions asked easy money regards higher education, looking at quotas for for admission by women and minorities, has only contributed to this problem. School counselors (government) for many years have pushed college / university even for those who were not college material probably contributing to the very high drop out rates in colleges. Additionally, government has contributed to education inflation that far exceeded the national inflation for many years (artificially increasing demand by pumping free money into this market). The more government has “helped,” the more stupid things have become in education. Finally, many trades (best learned through experience and hands on), have become academic college programs because these businesses (education is a business) are looking for ways to expand. So you have colleges teaching people how to be a mechanic, law enforcement/police, nursing, fireman... all trades best learned through some formal training (a short boot camp of sorts) combined with a follow on structured journeyman program which is hands on and builds the experience.

Other than government where a degree is a degree, and you can be a babbling idiot and still become an officer or climb through the GS ranks, in the civilian world where you have a bottom line and realistic concept of risk and ROI, many of these degrees don’t even get you a job.

The government has become the refuge and ultimate career path for those with worthless degrees but who still want a high paying career. In government you can have a 4 year degree in sociology, become a federal agent and make $135,000 a year before climbing into management!

“Not to mention college degrees are becoming worthless in both the private and public sectors.”

That’s a unique perspective. Most positions where the earnings are significant in both public and private sector job opportunities require a bachelors degree, at a minimum.

Not saying you can’t get in, or even do a phenomenal job at whatever you do, but to truly rise in income security, it’s in one’s best interest to obtain a degree.

I’m glad I’m not a young man anymore. Hard to find a decent girl who’s not an uppity communist with $100k in debt from getting a worthless “studies” degree.

Do you really mean “right of passage?”

Or do you mean “Rite of passage.”

I ask because they are two different things.

I still think skills in plumbing, electrical, welding, CNC Machining, HVAC and the like are not as vulnerable to the wage pressures from massive illegal immigration as other labor intensive jobs, as there’s not a lot of skilled tradesmen coming over the border.

About 5 years ago my wife and I spent a day touring Lancaster County, PA Amish country just for something to do. We lunched at a Family Style dining place on a farm near Intercourse, PA. At lunch we were seated across the table from a black mother and son from greater Philly area. They told us they had just come from enrolling the young man at Stevens Trade School, which is near Lancaster. I highly congratulated the young man for his decision to learn a trade rather than chasing some ephemeral fantasy. By this time he’s prolly alrady pulling down $100K per year in the plumbing, heating and AC realm.

The statistics showing higher wages for college graduates make the most basic error of all statistics—confusing causation with correlation.

At least in the old days (and most statistics use historical data) smarter and more talented people enrolled in college—obviously they would do better than the less intelligent and talented folks who did not.

A skilled tradesman can make a good and secure living today—without being reminded every day what a cruel and evil male colonizer and oppressor he is—whether in college or university or in big corporations.

Many young men—many very smart young men—are starting to figure it out...
