A lawsuit attempting to punish the FDA for denouncing ivermectin as a COVID cure could have dangerous consequences
In 2021, a bizarre cure for COVID-19 began to emerge on social media, the anti-parasite drug ivermectin. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now under fire for its efforts to refute claims that the drugs could stop the deadly virus.
A group of doctors is now suing the FDA, saying the agency’s efforts to refute claims about the drug’s effectiveness against COVID caused them personal harm. Some experts fear that punishment the FDA could face for refuting false information about the drug could undermine public health messaging in America.
After a questionable later-retracted study claiming ivermectin could cure COVID emerged in 2021, many Americans began to seek it out. It especially became popular among people in communities that were skeptical of the COVID-19 vaccines and other pandemic measures such as masking and social distancing.......
“FDA decided to target that practice via the ‘horse’ message—and others like it. The messaging traveled widely across legacy and online media,” they write in their suit. “Left unmentioned in most of the messaging: ivermectin also comes in a human version. And while the human version of ivermectin is not FDA-approved to treat the coronavirus, some people were using it off-label for that purpose.”
Christopher Robertson, J.D., Ph.D. and Tina Watson, legal experts from Boston University, write in the New England Journal of Medicine that “If the case against the FDA ultimately prevails, the agency’s ability to protect the public and support evidence-based medicine could be eroded.”
They describe the Fifth Circuit's decision as “puzzling”. Judges in the case write that the FDA does not have the authority to endorse, denounce or advise on medical decisions — just the power to inform or announce.

The FDA, CDC, and NIH undermined confidence in any of these agencies operating beyond the scope of their mandates.
They did this to themselves. It may decades before public trust is restored. Maybe never if they stay on this trajectory.
Good post! Hopefully Ken Paxton’s lawsuit against Pfizer goes his way too to hold Pfizer and ilk responsible for causing massive amount of death due to effective treatments being denied in favor of the vaccines for profit’s sake, all while knowing that their vaccine was less than 1% effective.
You mean like metformin?

Congrats on your weight loss and (maybe) saving your life! I always thought it was curious that all the “co-morbidities” that correlated to highest risk of death from Covid basically lined up exactly with old age and obesity, but the health experts acted like it was a big mystery.
We bought the tunes too before they banned the sale of them at local tractor and supply over the counter. So I ordered the “cow and swine” ivermectin in a bottle, and have been using that everytime I get a cold or flu now, and I swear by it.
I see nkw that the tube paste is about $14,a tube now- the bottle stuff we got was expensive but it lasts a long long time.
THE FDA has NOT supported or “taken care of” Americans for over 4 years.
They are as much of the problem as Fauci-—Gates-—and others.
Valley Vet has horse paste for $7.99 per tube. For them, it’s a top seller. I wonder why?
“Some experts fear that punishment the FDA could face for refuting false information about the drug could undermine public health messaging in America”
I’m reminded to put on some coffee. Trying to parse this statement.
FDA is FOS but MSN too. This is some serious BS here
Wow- good price on that. Our local tractor supply su
Posedly was ma,ing people “prove they had a horse” by “showing photos of the horse” before they would sell someone ivermectin once the ban was lifted again. I don’t know if it is true or not, but that is what I heard about the photos- i haven’t bought ivermectin there since they went woke. Plus the bottle I have of it has lasted so long there is no,need to go to tc again. I think I paid around $80 for the bottle, but as I mentioned, it is lasting a long time- after 3 years it’s not even 1/2 gone and it still, seems to,be working well when I get cold or flue.
Since the FDA already undermined US public health by discouraging the use of a cheap, safe and effective treatment against covid, how is restraining them going to hurt us?
The Progs want all these extrajudicial enforcement mechanisms to punish whoever they so feel inclined, for whatever reason.
I ordered some “Vitamin I” from them, and they didn’t bother to ask me about my horse.
Although there were some privately produced series that quickly seemed to show efficacy, the government funded ones were slow and appeared to be designed to ensure failure and it's taken the government a notably long time to admit they might have worked. Why that happened is a big question as it still doesn't make sense under pre-existing medical and scientific standards. The only proposed explanations which may fit is that a quick fix wouldn't have left a crisis, which some deemed politically useful. And which wouldn't let big pharma make a mint off of hypothetical new treatments. But even that potential mint shouldn't have blocked prompt studies and potential use of the old drugs. The new drugs and vaccines, under existing law, either had to go through (A) ordinary FDA approval process, too slow to solve the alleged emergency. Or they could be approved quicker, with limited testing and minimal big pharma potential liability, so long as the government could (B) claim no other treatments were available. Trashing the old drugs and using plan B gave Big Pharma its mint.
What should have happened is plan C. Congress declares the emergency is too big to depend on either old drugs or potential new drugs as fixes, we needed the option for both. And writes new laws so that bold old drugs and new rapidly developed ones could be tried, with enough incentives for Big Pharma to try to find them. Congress could and should have acted for such a big emergency as quickly as it did to impeach Trump. Instead it did nada, deferred everything to the executive branch, the panicked germaphobe, normally anti-government, head of which chose to trust the readily available government 'experts.' So used his small government skills to rapidly produce their big government desired outcome.

“In 2021, a bizarre cure for COVID-19 began to emerge on social media, the anti-parasite drug ivermectin. “
“Bizarre”
Idiots. And we can’t have truth getting in the way of public trust for the FDA.
Feeling snarky today? Your comment was totally uncalled for.
Yeah I wasn’t sure if it was a rumor or true- but i do know,I couldn’t get ivermectin there for, awhile, so,I had to send away for it from Jeffers or something like that-
Yes, first in 2020 was hydroxychloroquine and a few weeks later, ivermectin was found even more effective.
I love it when these so-called journalists make such obvious mistakes.
I read an article recently, can’t even remember what it was about now, but I had my doubts about the trustworthiness of
the source. When the first phrase of the next paragraph began “On November 31st”, I stopped reading.
Remember hydroxychloroquine?
“Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) is the antimalarial taken by most people with lupus. Other antimalarials, like chloroquine, are rarely used these days and may cause more side effects. Many people with lupus take hydroxychloroquine for the rest of their lives to control their disease and reduce flares by as much as half.Mar 4, 2022”
YES! The KILLER drug hydroxychloroquine that is taken “ by most people with lupus” ... “for the rest of their lives” is DANGEROUS for treatment of Covid.
Dangerous to THE BANK ACCOUNTS of BIG Pharma, just like Ivermectin was.
And once again “Anything I don’t like it a threat to our democracy”. (Some slight rewording might be required, but the message is always the same).
