The San Francisco Giants in 2000 proved govt involvement was not necessary, they built the stadium pretty much on their own with minimal tax involvement. Paid it off in 17 years and still have a beautiful stadium. As I recall the SF mayor and the California Governor were none to happy when in 2010 the first SF World Series when the pols asked for tickets were told to go to the window and buy their own.

That's the way it should be, billionaire owners should take out loans and have them paid off in 10-20 years with profits from the new stadium.
