Russian forces have gained full control of Maryinka, a town in eastern Ukraine, Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu told President Vladimir Putin, one of Russia's most significant gains since the capture of Bakhmut in May.
Most accounts of Maryinka, southwest of the Russian-held regional centre of Donetsk, describe it as a ghost town.
Putin said control of the town, which was once home to 10,000 people, will allow the Russian forces to move enemy combat units away from Donetsk.

Zeepers will be suicidal.
Maybe not. They will write it up as a big Ukraine win and convince themselves it is a truth.

I look forward to hearing how this Russian victory actually shows that the Ukies are winning gloriously and just need a couple hundred $billion to mop up.

Well, Merry Christmas!
Good to see the Liberation of Ukraine finally reaching its end-phase.
Thanks, Janet.

Big News! RuZZians Drop Shovel And PitchFork! They Run From Maryinka! All Glory To Ukraine! RuZZiaa It Is Kaput! Moscow It Is Collapse This Week!

This is a major development, the biggest since Moscow troops regained the initiative, and also the greatest achievement since they gained control of Avdiivka (Bakhmut) in May.
By taking Maryinka, the Russians have significantly pushed back the Ukrainian artillery. For years, Kiev used Maryinka has a key launching pad for drone and artillery strikes against civilians in Donetsk.

Naa, only have to liberate a few more areas to control Black Sea access. Maryinka was has been fortified over the past 10 years. The rest of Ukraine, a rump state, may continue to exist, providing they behave. Otherwise they’ll be divvied up to Poland, Hungary, and other neighbors.
I see. You said “liberation of Ukraine”...that means all of it and I was wondering.....
So when do you think Russia will capture Odessa?
