Civil wars are fought between the residents of a single country. Ukraine and Russia are two different countries.
But you knew that.
Merry Christmas.

So you have chosen death”
It is simpler and more correct to view as a civil war, Ukraine has no history of independence and much of it’s population are Russian. It was never any of our business, still is not, wasted our money, resources, and credibility on the whole mess when we should have been figuring out how to engage and help Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Long past that point, but they should have become natural allies. Instead, our Soviet hate, turned into Russian hate, and they’ve spiraled out of reach, becoming somewhat of a pariah state ran and controlled by soviet-like leaders and oligarchs. An historical loss.
Wrong. Ukraine is 🇺🇦.
“It is simpler and more correct to view as a civil war.”
Simpler? Yes. Correct? No.
“Ukraine has no history of independence..”
I know more than a few Ukrainians who would argue that point with you. One or two of them might even be nice enough to help you find your teeth after they explained things to you.
“and much of it’s population are Russian”
They may speak Russian but if they were born in Ukraine they’re Ukrainian.
“It was never any of our business, still is not, wasted our money, resources, and credibility on the whole mess when we should have been figuring out how to engage and help Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union.”
On this point you and I are in complete agreement. As of now I hope there’s some way both sides can lose. They’re both hyper corrupt oligarchies and neither of them have clean hands.

This smart as a razor old man asks a valid question;
Why is the main stream media going nuts over Israeli air strikes on Gaza (after they were attacked on Oct 7). Yet completely silent over TURKISH air strikes on the Kurdish REFUGEE camps (up to 70 a day)?

Well, we actually did expend serious resources, and credibility on the whole mess that was Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The big problem on our side was that we had Clinton doing most of the administering of it, when we needed someone like Bush 1 (other flaws notwithstanding) to manage it.
The big problem on their side was (and is) that Russia is, Russia, and not enough of it really wants to change...
