Soldiers from the IDF's Golani Brigade were ordered not to visit the families of their two friends who fell in battle in their free time. The soldiers were told that whoever visited would be dismissed from the unit.
According to a report by Asaf Pozailov on Kan News, the platoon commander, who decided to visit the families with several soldiers anyway when they left Gaza on leave, was dismissed by the Company Commander.
One of the parents reported that the soldiers had already notified the bereaved families that they were coming, and the order was given after the fact. "It put the soldiers in an impossible position," the parent stated.
The parent added that the soldiers "really need to get this closure, and they need it for their inner peace."
....the IDF responded: "The IDF embraces the bereaved families and will continue to accompany them. Commanders and representatives of the brigade contacted all of the bereaved families. The soldiers were advised to take advantage of their time at home for rest so that they could return to the battle in the best shape. Soldiers who visited or will visit bereaved families will not be punished."

Why on Earth would any commanders give such an order? It’s idiocy.
First rule of military leadership is “never give an order you know will not be obeyed.”

The blithering idiot company commander who did this should be dismissed

Try again?
Disgraceful political correctness that is absolutely disgusting.

The families were ok with it. What’s his f@#$ing problem.
If the family were gay lesbian or transgender he would be applauded
So were they sacked, or not?
Most egregious thing is, these are warriors on temporary leave from an ongoing war. If they go back to the front, some might not get back, and never get to pay their respects to the families of their fallen comrades, and their fellow troops will also be barred from visiting their respective families. This is inhuman.
This is a matter of honor among men of honor.
“It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.”
In the battle between Hamas and Israel, both sides seem insane to me. The way this started, and the hesitancy with which the IDF treated the enemies, is nuts. First rule of war, is to eliminate the enemy. When you are winning, you don’t pause, when losing you cry for peace.
Hamas deserves to be conquered I might add, IDF needs to accomodate this swiftly and efficiently.
