Harvard reported a 17% drop in early admissions applications compared to last year
...
A college admissions consultant is in "complete shock" as students are rejecting their early acceptance to Harvard for the first time in his career.
"Virtually every student I've ever worked with who got into Harvard early pretty much stopped [looking elsewhere]," Christopher Rim,
...
This is the first time and first application season where I've seen a student who got into Harvard early that I've worked with for almost three and a half, four years now, starting in ninth grade — we're seeing them say, ‘You know what? I want to apply to other schools because what if I graduate and this stigma and this reputation of Harvard stays the same?’ That's their true concern."
...
The elite Ivy League institution reported last week that its early application total took a 17% decline from last year,
...
This is the first time this has happened," he continued. "Normally, my student will get into Harvard or a top-tier school, and then that'll be it. We're done. So congratulations. We've finished the process, but now we're seeing students say, ‘You know what? Let me double think this. Let me think about other options.’"
Rim added that reputation remains a chief factor in determining where students wish to go to college, but they are beginning to realize that Ivy League schools are not the only options for a great education, and are turning to institutions like Vanderbilt or Duke instead.
We've seen tremendous increase and actually know applications are up. Duke reported over 1,000 more applicants than any previous early decision round, and that represents pretty much a 28% increase this year over last year for the early rounds, which is significant. That just shows you the demand,"

I give it 30 days that Claudine Gay “resigns” to take a new job working at the IMF.
They should be able to fill those slots with affirmation action students.
If the employers/buyers are leaving, why invest time and money?
The only thing Harvard has going for it is reputation - the quality of a Harvard education is in no provable way better than the quality of an education at any decent state university. And Harvard is busy dismantling its reputation as quickly as possible.
Until Gay, AND the Harvard Board are GONE, this will continue and grow worse over time.
I say GOOD. Harvard deserves this for it’s complete capitulation to the left somewhere along it’s path going back decades.
Some of the most clueless people I’ve ever worked with were Harvard grads, some whom also attended the Kennedy School of Government. They were overflowing with confidence and smarminess, like used car salesmen, but had little actual knowledge or ability where it mattered. The only thing they excelled at was self-promotion.
Yes, I bet a soft landing is being arranged for her as we speak.
Sounds perfect for government service.
> some whom also attended the Kennedy School of Government.
Hah! One boss I had went there. He was the kind of guy that lived in Boulder CO and took vacation at Santa Cruz CA. He called to tell me they weren’t going to pay me what I asked and I just hung up. Never talked to him again. Couldn’t stand the guy, he just irked me.
Think about that, then think about how many of their indoctrinees go into government or corporate leadership....
The Left won’t ask her to step down via public opinion that’s for sure. Go woke go broke.
I don’t believe in Santa Cruz.
I doubt that’s the reason.
Here is the actual reason: Political leaders and voters are parrots who mimic their intellectual superiors. For 40 years, the one message that resonates with all voters is...education....education.... education.
Guess what?
When you over expanded an education sector that is dependent on youngsters and the financing they can afford, and your society would rather put selfish pro abortion kamikazes on a pedestal. Then don’t be surprised when your business model becomes obsolete.
Supply & demand works every time.
The term “Ivy League” should be replaced by “DEI League”.
Alternately, they are the “Woke League”.
I’m not sure it will be 30 days but as I posted the other day Harvard is already quietly working out a position for her. It’s how they do it. Usually they communicate, not in writing, with places like Brown or Princeton or a lower tier place if they have to.
They probably had it already worked out since Harvard has known about this problem for a while. But now that Gay’s history has been exposed those plans won’t work. Most institutions will be wary of taking on Gay now. They’ll have to find a foundation that’s international or something like IMF or the World Bank or perhaps a foundation focusing on education in a foreign country. If she’s giving out money the recipients will be nice to her and treat her well.
You read it here first on Free Republic.
The country needs to 'BudLight' totalitarian Universities and the scum that graduates from those hellhole schools.
