Russia got richer even as the war in Ukraine raged on last year, while the West shed trillions of dollars of wealth

Russians got richer in 2022 even as the war in Ukraine raged on, while the US and Europe lost trillions of dollars, according to UBS.

Russia added $600 billion of total wealth, the Swiss bank found in its annual Global Wealth Report, published on August 15.

The number of Russian millionaires also rose by about 56,000 to 408,000 in 2022, while the number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals — people worth over $50 million — jumped by nearly 4,500.

But the US lost more wealth than any other country last year, shedding $5.9 trillion, while North America and Europe combined got $10.9 trillion poorer, UBS reported.

There were also 1 million fewer American millionaires by the end of 2022, although the US still accounted for over 50% of the world's ultra-high-net-worth individuals, the bank said.

The reality should be sobering for the war zealots.

Sanctions were always CONTRARY to US interests, just as support for Ukraine in the war is Contrary to US interests.

The idea that Russia is rich is ludicrous, and the author has no idea what is meant by national wealth. GDP growth of Russia for 2023 is projected to be between -2.5% and .02%. The US is projected to grow between 2.5% and 3% in 2023.

More importantly, the US GDP is $23 trillion, while Russia is about $1.8 trillion in US dollars.

2022?

Now it’s almost 2024 and Russians are standing in lines outside in the snow to buy an egg.

Sanctions were about the class war, Russia as pretext only.

” GDP growth of Russia for 2023 is projected to be between -2.5% and .02%.”

UBS says they gained $600bil in net worth.

“The idea that Russia is rich is ludicrous, and the author has no idea what is meant by national wealth. “

And here you show your limited understanding of “national wealth”.

When it comes to intrinsic wealth (net worth) it’s arguable Russia is the richest country in the world by far.

I doubt it.

Neocon failures and chaos across the globe from Somalia to Iraq to Afghanistan to Libya is only met with more promotions and more $$$$ for DC cronies.

Of course there is the $32 trillion debt, but that's a small price to pay conduct non-stop wars worldwide.

There has never been and never will be a stampede of Americans to the filth of Chelyabinsk, Russia. The armchair isolationists who complain loudest are always quickest to cash their American government checks. All the while sitting comfortably under the American defense umbrella. Cheering on from the peanut gallery another genocide of Ukrainians by the Moscow Kremlin is really a pathetic retirement hobby to have but whatever floats a boat I guess.

--- More importantly, the US GDP is $23 trillion, while Russia is about $1.8 trillion in US dollars. Of course there is the $32 trillion debt, but that's a small price to pay conduct non-stop wars worldwide.

Math can be interesting and informative.

Based on the argument you got and your response:

1.8 trillion GDP - 282 billion external debt = 1,799.718 in USD equivalence

23 trillion - 34 trillion = negative 11 trillion in USD

- 11 trillion > 282 billion

Not only "greater than" but lots greater than.

Years back my German neighbor fully knew about the Mauerfall and collapse of the East German government, as a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union. But he hadn't noticed that at the collapse of the Soviet Union, the then collapsed government also collapsed its debt to zero, and as such. Poof.

So the above simple math puts some perspective on the "math" as numbers fly about.

One observes additionally that the interest alone on the US external debt is now about four times the entire Russian external debt.

Before some "jock" here calls me a "Putin Stooge," we retired back to the states and care VERY much about the state of our US economy. Those neocons and neolibs? Not so much. Because as is foolishly said, "it's a small price to pay." Especially on a credit card that someone else is supposed to pay off.

Citations and sources to the above numbers upon request.

Zeepers swear Russia is imploding and can’t recover.

And Zeepers will also swear they know everything, so…

RUSSIA is a better ran Gangster state than the American Gangster state—that’s all. Russian Gangsters love their country, American “citizen of the World” do not.

It’s CUTE how the Russia haters expect us to believe their TOTALLY UNSUPPORTED numbers, after being provided with numbers from WESTERN sources, as in this article.

A lot of Americans have no idea what they are throwing away.

Nor do they realize what has already been taken away.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree. Telling the truth in today’s America can be fatal.

Truth sounds like hate to those who hate truth.
