I’ve heard the areas of Destin, Panama City, etc. referred to as the Redneck Riviera.
Backcountry Florida panhandle is Cracker Land. Trust me.
don’t associate ‘rednecks’ with the very distinct Southern culture of literature, art, food, etiquette, hospitality, dance - as it presumes crassness and lack of sophistication. although there is crossover from the rural to the more cultivated. having lived with the presumption of being an ignorant ‘redneck’ because i am from the South, i see it for the putdown it is.
Those days are gone. They torn down all of the Spring Break stuff and built rows of condos.
