Lawyer who has advised foreign secretary says Israel has the capacity, but not the will, to relocate even one settler
Nearly 200,000 of the 700,000 Israeli settlers in the West Bank would have to be relocated to Israel to create a viable Palestinian state, according to an Israeli lawyer from whom the UK foreign secretary, Lord Cameron, has sought advice on his visits to Israel.
Cameron has said he realises reaching a two-state solution would be tough, but he has not spelled out the practical consequences in terms of borders, including the need to persuade so many Israelis to relocate.
Cameron acknowledged his debt to Daniel Seidemann in giving evidence to a Lords select committee last week, saying he always seeks his advice when he visits Jerusalem.
In an interview with the Guardian, Seidemann said: “If Israel has the will, or capacity, to relocate 200,000 settlers from the West Bank and Jerusalem, a two-state solution is a viable option. If it does not have the will, the two-state solution is dead. The number might be better than most people think, but it is quite daunting.

>>A Palestinian state that is demilitarized, that can engage in at least “cordial” if not friendly relations with Israel, is the best hope the Palestinians can get.
I don’t think that there is any willingness on the part of Israel to have friendly relations with a Palestinian state. They would insist that trade and travel be severely restricted and that they have the ability to control and monitor any aspect of Palestinian life that would possibly be used against them. In short, the Palestinians would be serfs, and the situation would be unstable.
That would depend, and change over time. If the Palestinians elect a civilized self-rule government that has a monopoly on the legal use of force, defends its citizens from crime and protects its national interest - in time Israel would lessen various restrictions. I’ve traveled from Egypt and Joran into and from Israel many times over many decades. It’s not an easy process but not overly complicated just takes a lot of time - and those countries have peace deals. It’s may be harder for Palestinians especially those who do not have Israeli transit cards, but shouldn’t have to be harder than it is from the other bordering countries after some time of peace has passed.
But as it is now - or was, at least, prior to Oct 7th - the Palestinians depended on Israel for just about everything. 100,000’s of work visas, electricity, water, sewage, telecom, agricultural and industrial trade, currency, taxation - you name it. They have been living as serfs because they don’t have the capacity or ingenuity or will to do it themselves. They will need a lot of different types of foreign assistance not just for reconstruction but on good governance. The Palestinians will need a national reconciliation of their own and heaven knows by now they should have realized that the path they have been on is unsustainable.
Alive and dead are two states. That could be a solution.
That’s why I said so-called Palestinians...
But if they were a nation, it would be an act of war: now they can be characterized as freedom fighters (roll-eyes) and garner sympathy; if they were a nation, it would be an act of war, an attack on another nation which would garner condemnation instead.
Stop with the Palestinian bit...they’re Muslims to the core and their cry “kill all the Christians and Jews” has not changed.
The two-state solution is dead for a generation thanks to October 7th. Israel was rewarded for leaving Gaza with 18 years of fighting and an invasion. It cannot allow this in Judea and Samaria
The Gaza/Palestinians are going the way of the Native American.
The strong do what they want and the weak suffer what they must....
Let them figure it out and let us know when they both decide the border. Anything other than that... walk the f@#k away. Let them kill each other.
Anyone in our country that tries to drag us in or in any way calls on the US as supporter of either side is an enemy of the US. It’s none of out business.....except for arms sales. Then it’s all about our business.
Eventually a middle eastern politician or general is going to sit back and realize the Russians, Chinese, US etc.. are just throwing gasoline on the mideast and lighting a match.
Areil Sharon was the last Israeli politician that knew how to fight and win an insurgency. Maybe Netanyahu will be allowed to do what has to be done....then once Israel is safe, he can be condemned as a “war criminal” like Pinochet was.
Everybody wants to fight an insurgency but nobody wants to know how the sausage is made and what the 20 year war will look like.
It will hit our country, it has in places like Chicago, LA, Minnesota, Baltimore, NYC and DC. There are no go zones, and the idiot politicians that think they can control the violent douche bags that they send out to attack conservative, white Christians..... well all they should do is take a little visit to Lebanon.. the Paris of the Mediterranean. That’s what a civil war looks like in the 20th-21st century. They think they’ll get “votes” of the millions of illegals and violent support from the BLM/Antifa psychos....I can’t wait till they find out that their maniacs aren’t going to love ANYONE in power....hahahahahaha
You can already see the occasional preview of coming attractions when the occasional liberal is murdered, butchered, raped, damaged and robbed by one of their little minions....
