This is nothing new. It’s a form of coercion used to intimidate people from leaving Islam. It has been ongoing for centuries since its inception. Parents do not care what the religion demands they do, even to their own children or other family members.
Islam seems to have a lot in common with the mafia, although the mafia is better behaved.
