General aviation airports with a tower in operation usually close the tower around 10:00PM and reopen at 6:00 or so, so you can come and go as you please. Instrument approaches hand you to Unicom once you have declared the runway in sight.
My oldest daughter keeps it in the doughnut. I handle the radio and Nav Systems.
I noticed around 5 years ago that the ownership or command competency as you would be handed off had begun to have skill gaps @ATC Centers. Airport and ground controllers seem about the same.
Well, if that happens it won’t be because some air traffic controller screwed up.
It was a near hit.

We learned recently that my husband’s nephew has decided to become an air traffic controller.
It’s always seemed to me one of the most stressful jobs in the world; but he appears to have the stuff, so good for him.

I’m addicted to those shows about plane crashes, it’s amazing how they can find the clues as to what happened from the wreckage.
I advocate for a system that charges passengers by a formula that considers weight and width! So much per pound and so much per inch.
I think it’s much more fair as it would be directly related to the actual cost of transporting the passenger.
Similar to the method used to calculate freight charges.

Hayden is a bit of problem.
Once saw a Rocky Mountain Airways Dash 8 depart across the runway from the taxiway. He was empty, did a short field takeoff.
I don’t recall why but downwind departures are common at HDN. I had to do it once back a half century ago, but it’s an airport on a mesa so you have the fun of diving off the departure end of 28.

Worst accident in my year at NKP Royal Thia air base in North East Thailand was when a B-57 came off target and somehow collided with the C-123 acting as the Forward Air Controller.
Separation was up to the flight crews of both aircraft to maintain so there was obviously a mixup and someone was not where they were supposed to be. Out of ten crewmembers total on both aircraft, there was one survivor. My roommate was not one of them.
