Oregon’s U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden will block the nomination of a new director for the National Security Agency until the agency publicly discloses whether it is purchasing, storing and using electronic data on everyday Americans.
Wyden has asked the agency to disclose this information since 2021, but he’s intensifying pressure in the lead up to a vote on nominating Lt. Gen. Timothy Haugh to lead the NSA, as well as a key vote from Congress this week on whether to extend or reform a major foreign surveillance law set to expire at the end of the year.
Wyden said the NSA owes it to Americans to be transparent about whether it is buying and collecting data on citizens who live in the U.S. or abroad, especially browsing histories and location data. Such data collection would amount to a warrantless search, he said, denying Americans their right to privacy and protection from unreasonable search and seizure by the government.

There are very few things that I agree with Wyden on but I wholeheartedly support this.
Broken clock time!
Hey, Congresscritter McCaul, where you at on this? You still head of the Congressional Security Committee?
Recess appointment coming soon?
The GOP could have been at the forefront of this for 10 years except they used it, along with their spy network of McCain and Crazy Liz to try and overthrow an election.
I’m pretty sure key members of the GOP still want to spy on Americans.
I used to live in Oregon, and had some problems with the USCIS and my foreign born spouse. His office helped me both times. I thank him for that, and for making the right call on this matter as well.
It’s AMAZING how quickly the USCIS can see the err in their ways and get things right when they know someone is looking. TWICE they did exactly what I asked once his office made a single call to them.
Obviously the government is wholly against the American people. They’re in bed with googs, fakebook and the rest., plotting how to control us around the clock. And they will lie and claim nothing here to see.
