Agreed. It sounds like this woman has had conviction about her past choices. We shouldn't make it into condemnation.

Conviction is often both accurate and healthy -- for her and the people around her. Condemnation is always both a lie and unhealthy -- for her and the people around her.

She condemned her selfish self to being a spinster. As the realization of spinsterhood crept in she condemned the error of her ways
