I’ll presume you and Jonty30 are dealing with the bottom-of-the-barrel, likely enterprise-side, Indian tech imports, which means you’re not in SV. Because there are loads of top-tier IIT-type imports who rise to the top in the Valley due to merit. They are overrepresented in successful startups for a reason.
I’m not saying that there aren’t talented people from India. I’m referring to their hiring practices and explicit favouritism.
The use merit to rise to the top for themselves and use favouritism to discriminate against others.
Why else would they protest against legislation designed to remove caste hiring in the US?
One more comment, if it were a case where merit was being used and it just happened that East Indians rose up to the top because they were the best, I would not be concerned.
Every demographic is going to be overrepresented somewhere in society because every demographic and community as their talents.
That is not why East Indians are overrepresented, because they are the best at what they do.
Here is what you don’t know.
Two weeks ago IBM got rid of over 10k employees.
Everyone of them was an American.
They were replaced with workers from India.
Everyone of them.
And this is only the beginning.
This is the same thing that Carly Forina did with HP 20 years ago.
