They have to create the impression that Ukraine is winning in order to hose more money out of Congress.

They believe if they lie and make up things over and over that people will believe it and it will give them cover to declare they are spending on a winning venture.

People are wising up to the propaganda and falsehoods.

It's not backed up by obituaries in Russian newspapers. It's backed up by Russian social media accounts on Telegram. Nor is it backed by satellite imagery.

Russia insists on using mindless “meat wave” tactics in its assaults

Who told you that?

Some people have fallen for the propaganda because it is what they want to believe.

Russia has always fought like this. In WWI it led to a revolution. In WWII, the population decided that Stalin was better than Hitler.

You think Russia would have changed tactics in the Russo-Ukrainian War. Apparently not.

87%, not 80%, not 90%. Our intelligence is so sharp.

Russia took what it wanted almost immediately. And they've never lost any of it. I'd say they already won. Now it's just keeping the attack poodle at bay.

Silly headline writers.

As a writer, I know headlines are written by someone else.

If you look in the article, it only claims 315,000 casualties compared to the 360,000 Russian troops and contractors which entered Ukraine. 315/360 is 87%.

315,000 Russian casualties in the two year war is easily possible.

From the article:

Of the 360,000 troops that entered Ukraine, including contract and conscript personnel, Russia has lost 315,000 on the battlefield, according to the assessment.

In a peer war, the losses are very high.

For example from WW2, the UK started with ~180 destroyers, during the war they had 140 sunk, they bought or built several hundred more and ended up with 300+.

But they lost 80 percent of what they originally had.

For a land army in all out peer war, after two years, everything is new. All the men are new, all the equipment is new. Even if it is not being replaced by updated machines - which was a big feature of WW2.

What’s the raw number of soldiers?

If Russia’s standing military was small then 2 years of war and massive troop draw ups then it’s going to be very easy to come up with an 87% figure.

In fact, given the weasel verbage and the sheer number of Russian soldiers now the fact that it’s still under 100% is probably pretty impressive.

Then its an optimal time for strategic bombings, invasion, and annexing Imperial Russia. Come on Biden, Russia is weaker now./s

Our foreign policy is 180 degrees out of phase, especially with the US debt load.

Same people that “assessed” that the Hunter Biden laptop was a RU project?

Same people that “assessed” that the Wuhan virus did not come from the WIV lab?

Same people that “assessed” that Trump was colluding with RU?

Same people that “assessed” that sanctions would be a death sentence for RU?

Same people that “assessed” that RU blew up Nordstream 2?
