University of Pennsylvania President Elizabeth Magill, and the chairman of the board of trustees, Scott L. Bok, have both resigned after intense pressure from alumni, donors and members of Congress.
Magill was hounded from office after a disastrous performance at a congressional hearing on antisemitism on American college campuses.
At the hearing, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik bored in on Magill's equivocations, trying to elicit a clear response to a question about antisemitism.
“Calling for the genocide of Jews,” Ms. Stefanik asked, “does that constitute bullying or harassment?”
Ms. Magill replied, “If it is directed and severe, pervasive, it is harassment.”
Ms. Stefanik responded, “So the answer is yes.”
Ms. Magill said, “It is a context-dependent decision, congresswoman.”
Ms. Stefanik exclaimed: “That’s your testimony today? Calling for the genocide of Jews is depending upon the context?”
Yes, it was that bad.
Even worse, Mr. Bok tried to defend Magill, claiming the president was "worn down" by her job.
“Worn down by months of relentless external attacks, she was not herself last Tuesday,” he wrote. “Over-prepared and over-lawyered given the hostile forum and high stakes, she provided a legalistic answer to a moral question, and that was wrong. It made for a dreadful 30-second sound bite in what was more than five hours of testimony.”

“Over-prepared and over-lawyered given the hostile forum”
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never required a lawyer to express an opinion.
it makes me wonder
what would be the fallout
if she had said
genocide of the jews is a bad thing
If you are “over-lawyered,” you deserve what you get.
I think she kept her job as a professor. She should be fired.
The indefatigable Rep. Elise Stefanik bored in on Magill’s equivocations,
to elicit a clearer response to radical Magill’s liberal stance on antisemitism.
“Calling for the genocide of Jews,” Stefanik asked,
“does that constitute bullying or harassment?”
Ms. Magill: “If it is directed and severe, pervasive, it is harassment.”
Ms. Stefanik responded, “So the answer is yes.”

A university president has two main jobs. First and foremost is to bring in the big donations and keep big donors happy. The second is to get good publicity for the school. This woman failed badly on both. Her departure was inevitable. No great loss. After listening to the her testimony and the remarks of the other two women presidents, you get the distinct impression that these people hate the American nation and the American people. The time for a purging revolution at America’s once great universities has come.
the resignations resulted not from their antisemitism, but from hundreds of millions of alumni donor pledges being withdrawn ...
Magill should have been fired and had any employee benefits cancelled. Allowing her to remain as a tenured professor is an insult to the intelligence of everyone.
Jew hatin’ biatches = NAZIS
If a person can believe that a man can become a woman, selling genocide won’t be much of a stretch. That’s really the whole purpose of Doublethink.
You are correct. She will still spew hatred of Jews and Israel as a professor.
U of Penn President Elizabeth Magill, AND chairman of the board of trustees, Scott L. Bok,
were hounded from office, and both resigned after intense pressure from alumni, donors and members of Congress.
BACKSTORY U of Penn started receiving millions from Communist China in donations
right after UPenn established “The Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement” in DC.
U of Penn could not explain the sudden millions in Chinese donations.
As investigations threatened, PBS-TV reported UPenn up and gave....
unannounced and unasked.....a $100 million dollar lump sum to local Philly schools.
The Biden Center was also being investigated for unexplained Chinese donations.
Comer laid out his requests in a letter to U of Penn
President and is specifically interested in learning:
<><>who had access to the Penn Biden Center,
<><>a visitors’ log of those who met with Biden at the think tank,
<><>the presence, if any, of lawful security measures WRT to viewing US classified documents
<><>who at UPenn has security clearance necessary to view classified documents
<><>whether Chinese donations to “The Biden Center” were disguised payments for classified info.
This didn’t work ?

I suspect whoever is the new campus ‘boss’....walks through a difficult vetting process, and gets a lecture or two by the board to clean the mess. I doubt if the new ‘boss’ survives more than a year or two.
Good start. But, there should be a long list to follow. Draining the “Swamp” includes colleges and universities.
I'm rather disappointed they didn't appear on the Sunday morning shows, though I'm not surprised.
