December 6th Senate blocked debates on President Joe Biden's $106 billion aid package, including over $61 billion for Ukraine's defense needs. Republicans demanded tougher measures for securing the southern U.S. border with Mexico to be included in the bill.
Republicans in Senate are prepared to support a funding package for Ukraine's defense needs, only after Democrats agree to measures aimed at securing the southern border of the United States with Mexico, according to an interview with Republican Senator Jim Risch.
Republicans' refusal to support the funding package for Ukraine by expressing the desire to emphasize the need to address illegal migration across the southern border of the United States.
"It was a vote strictly along party lines on the national security package that we have to get done. We will get it done. We needed to impress upon our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that we're deadly serious. We Republicans are deadly serious about closing our southern border. We have close to 10,000 illegals a day coming across the United States border, and we need to secure our border, first and foremost," noted Risch. According to him, although discussions on border security may take months or even years, it will not delay the decision-making process regarding financial assistance to Ukraine.
"The weeks and months you're talking about are behind us, not in front of us. We've been talking about this (border security in the U.S. - Ed.) not just for weeks and months but for years, and it's time to take this seriously," he said.
Senator Jim Risch, has consistently supported Ukraine. However, like other Republicans in the Senate, he did not support initiating the consideration of the bill for financial assistance to Ukraine.

Or no billions for Ukraine and Israel. I read we have sent 200 airplanes to Israel with urgently needed weaponry. Such as artillery shells. For sure I support US aid to Israel and Ukraine, But only if the border fence gets funded. Keep out these invaders flooding in from Venezuela that I hear are very criminally inclined bunch of refugees. Keep all invaders out!
At this point many DemonRats will support securing the Southern border.
This is likely to be more theater. The best we can hope for is Ukraine defense now and a promise of our defense in 10 years. Please prove me wrong.

Prove? I can only hope and pray that we can get our border secured, as part of the deal to send tens billions more aid to Ukraine and Israel.

Yep. The aid to Ukraine (which I’m against) will happen quickly. Funds will be transferred. Munitions will be on their way.
Means to strengthen the southern border will happen very slowly, if at all. Funds will be allocated. But there will be all sorts of “unexpected delays”.
Once again, the Republicans will be played. The solution? Trump 2024.
Even if they vote to fund construction of this or that section of a Trump-style (meaning: more or less effective as a barrier) fence or wall, does anyone think Brandon will actually build it?
More likely he’ll just find some way to hand the money to Donkey party cronies untill it’s all spent, with no improvement in conditions at the border.
So what happens to the millions that are already here and having anchor babies? Do they get a pass?
Anyways...before it even got to the Senate, the White House sent out a memorandum that no way would Biden sign it.

I support securing the border first AND then giving my hard-earned tax money. That should take months. Switch the roles of Dem vs. Gopee.
Dirty Secret - republicans do not want the border secure. The People want the border secure, republicans same as democrats do not.
some Republicans, including the Speaker, have said they will require an Audit of any funds to Ukraine. I assume they will drop that demand because they always cave. If they make any deal with Biden, Joe will cheat such as it is already said that any money to US southern border will be used to help process more illegals into the country, i.e. more plane tickets to cities of choice, more loaded Visa cards, more cell phones, etc. GOP gets rolled in every poker game they get into with Sleepy Joe, and they keep doing it. We have NO representatives in Washington DC
