STUTTGART, Germany — The leader of a Germany-based brigade that maintains vast amounts of Army weaponry and supplies has been quietly fired from her position.
Col. Crystal Hills was removed as commander of the 405th Army Field Support Brigade by Maj. Gen. David Wilson, head of Army Sustainment Command, the service said in a statement late Monday.
Wilson fired Hills “due to loss of trust and confidence in her ability to command,” said Kimberly Conrad, a spokeswoman for Army Sustainment Command.
The command refused to say when Hills was fired or who, if anyone, has replaced her at the helm of a unit that plays a key role in ensuring U.S. soldiers are supplied across Europe and Africa. The unit’s mission also involves oversight of a network of pre-positioned weapons depots at locations across Europe. Those sites have played an important role for infantry units rotating in and out of Europe on missions to deter potential Russian aggression against NATO member territory.
The Kaiserslautern-based brigade’s website lists Hills’ former job as vacant. The Army also did not specify where Hills was reassigned.
Hills’ relief is the latest in a string of exits for leaders of brigades, units that serve as the operational backbone of the Army. In the past few years, colonels have been removed from command for reasons varying from toxic leadership to inappropriate relationships and bad judgment in general.

The reasons vary widely in these loss of confidence scenarios. Incompetence to sexual liaison (inappropriate relations), alcohol related incidents etc... they are rarely, if ever disclosed. Not to worry, after the dust settles careers in civil service are obtai3nale and there’s always contractor opportunities. The ring bangers always look after their own.
One thing that stands out in her bio is only 1 single deployment in 25 years of Army service. I don’t know any zoomies, but all the Soldiers, Sailors and Marines I know had had MANY deployments during that time. At the 2012 Enlisted Retention Board, that would have been a huge red flag, and most likely would have been enough to discharge a sailor. We were seeking to downsize, and someone who avoided deployments would have been a target.
Our military is in a very poor state .
Another stupid Rigger!
Business English is like a Communications major. It is better for getting a job in business than a literature major. Problem is it is likely someone with a degree in that from a black college can’t write well at all. Since the degree gives no other useful skills, it could be a problem.
So viola, if you can’t get a job apply for OCS. They take some clowns like that with degrees who can’t get jobs.
The academy graduates and promoted from enlisted are usually reasonably qualified. Someone who applied because theyn couldn’t get a professional job may be a good officer.
I don’t see how a woman can just be like any officer, but that is the way they do it now.
Rigger, please.....
That's a red flag ...

Especially considering the time period. She would have been a 1st LT when we were attacked on 9/11, but didn't deploy for the next 10-12 years? With 2 wars going on?
My guess is that there was a lot of equipment that wasn’t operable for the latest Reforger exercise, but it took a number of months to complete the after-action report.
I googled “professional English” and it doesn’t sound good.”
So she learned how to talk like Bill Lumbergh.
Do they even do REFORGER anymore except as a Command paper drill / simulation? Not much infrastructure left for the Old School REFORGER.
A black female conservative could be very threatening
We don't know what she did to get fired. But in many cases, due to the inherent nature of "Affirmative Action" and woke policies, we can often correctly infer that we know why she was hired.
Affirmative Action and woke policies are double edged curses.
By its very nature, choosing someone based on factors other than merit (such as skin color or sex) ensures you are not choosing the best.
And people chosen by that method, will always be judged by that, no matter their qualifications. And that is the pity of Affirmative Action and Woke policies. There is no escaping that side of the double-edged sword.
Granted, if someone is exceptional, and metrics back up that evaluation, they will escape being painted with that brush except by true racists or sexists.
But even then, the government and the military both have incentives to falsify the results of Affirmative Action/Woke policies, and they do.
I’ll go ahead and go with incompetence and loss of confidence in her ability to command for a thousand, Alex.
One would be willing to wager is that there are no more black female army colonels in the US Army than could be counted on one hand.
One hopes that one is mistaken, of course.
I will say say, if she is relieved and they give “Loss of Confidence” that can mean anything, and if she is one of the protected class, none of them are good.
When the military gets serious enroute to combat, incompetents like this outlive their usefulness.
That is my objection to Affirmative Action promotions and females in combat billets.
They are going to need every ounce of combat effectiveness at the front end if any open hostilities break out, and the very nature of Affirmative Action/Woke policies takes pounds of combat effectiveness off the back end.
No, she was commissioned decades before that photo.
