Former President Donald Trump is making a “concerted effort to win” in blue New Jersey, with Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) heading up the 2024 effort, Trump announced on Friday, previewing rallies and events in the Garden State as he continues to maintain his status as the runaway frontrunner in the GOP primary race.
“I am pleased to announce that very popular and highly respected Congressman, Jeff Van Drew, will be heading up my New Jersey effort for President,” Trump announced on Truth Social, deeming the congressman “one of the best political minds anywhere.”

As I recall, Nixon won NJ in 1968, when it had been presumed for HHH.

If Trump can win New Jersey. a tall order, he will likely have at least 400 electoral votes. No Republican Presidential nominee has won the Garden State since the elder Bush did in 1988. He would get most of the contested states plus possibly New Hampshire, Maine, Colorado.
He would have to win NJ by 12 points to beat the cheat there not going to happen

Also, maybe there’s hope for PDJT’s original home state of New York where he will be delivering the above keynote speech to the NY Young Republicans Club tomorrow night.
He finished 23 points behind Brandon in the Empire state in 2020 but a November Siena poll showed President Trump has narrowed that gap to single digits @9%.
Finally, it would indeed be delicious to witness Christie’s reaction to Trump carrying the Garden state.
Maybe the NYYRC should take over the NYS GOP, which does nothing.
Keep them playing defense in states that should be locks….
I admire your pluck, but as much as NJ is a longshot, there is no friggin’ way PDJT is going to win NY.
His chances might go from zero to miniscule if he chooses Elise Stefanik as his VP.
I suspect Trump saying this kind of thing is to make the Dhimmis expend resources there.
In 2016, Trump lost the state by 14.1 percentage points, and in 2020, the gap was 15.9 percentage points.
Murphy only won by 3 percent, and things have got a lot worse for the Dems since 2021.
Is he the Republican who almost won the governor’s election in New Jersey in 2021?
I recall that the Democrat won, as expected by all the pundits, but that the election was very close. Which would show that New Jersey can be competitive for the GOP.
Decent New Yorkers should be disgusted with the way Trump is being treated by their dysfunctional AG & courts.
