CTV’s BC bureau has found a potential cause célèbre on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, where enterprising YouTube documentarians sometimes like to stroll around with their iPhones and capture footage of the filth-strewn drug-zombie wasteland, putting themselves at obvious risk of robbery and violence (and occasionally depicting both) as they do so...
Most of these videos have hit counts in the thousands, but one made by an American, Tyler Oliveira, has become an especially big hit. Oliveira has an entire online oeuvre of frightening mini-tours of skid rows and tent cities across North America...
Well, CTV’s Isabella Zavarise heard about this extremely concerning phenomenon of people making good money by going out and reporting the news, and naturally wondered: “Can this possibly be OK?” Denizens of the Eastside were quick to reassure her that it isn’t. One of them alleges that he is featured in the video; he says he finished a “shift” at the Overdose Prevention Society on the day Oliveira was filming, and he immediately, in what must be one of the most astonishing coincidences on record, suffered a drug overdose. He claims to feel horrible about the fact that “millions, literally millions” of people, instead of the usual mere thousands of Vancouver passersby, have “seen me at my worst.”...
The actual purpose of the story is just to enforce the high/low distinction between real broadcast reporting, the kind that some goon with a broadcasting licence will pay you to do, and the democratized amateur sort that gets uploaded directly to the internet. In other words, CTV News is simply discouraging competitors by means of artful threats and sly insults.

My wife and I visited Vancouver back around 2013, and while I thought Vancouver was a nice looking city, I was not prepared for a walk through the park we took where people were shooting up right there, and there were needles just laying all over the place.
Granted, that is old hat now, but I was surprised to see it back then.
It is not just “journalists”.
This destructive leftist agenda has a supermajority of support in these leftisit cities.
My parents left Vancouver in 2005. It was already in drug chaos then, and the residents of that city vote federally and provincially for ever more radical and city-destroying agendas.
Just like Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles... etc.
