Republicans Block Ukraine Aid Bill, Putting New Pressure on Border Talks
Wall Street Journal ^ | 12/6/2023 | Siobhan Hughes

-snip-

“As we’ve said for weeks, legislation that doesn’t include policy changes to secure our borders will not pass the Senate,” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), who has been one of the most ardent supporters of Ukraine.

Republicans and Democrats have been discussing a change to tighten the initial asylum screening standard, but GOP lawmakers have said that change alone isn’t enough. They have broadened their demands to include a massive expansion of immigration detention for asylum seekers, the ability to send asylum seekers to other countries the U.S. deems are safe and limits on an immigration status known as humanitarian parole. The Biden administration has used parole expansively to let in hundreds of thousands of refugees from the Ukraine war and asylum seekers at the border who sign up in advance.

The deal that fornicates us is coming.

MTG is out with a video on a defense spending bill that continues to spend the money we don’t have.

And that includes money for Ukraine and the FISA used against Trump and his supporters remaining intact.

Its the deal Chuck Schumer and Mike Johnson have agreed to:

Its mind-boggling how, for Neo-marxist DC apparatchiks, Ukraine’s borders are so much more important than the USA’s

I’ll believe it when I see it. The damage has been done. And we saw it happening live in living color.

And that’s before they have to run the House GOP gauntlet.

There will be no more Ukraine funding. So they won’t be able to pay you to spew their garbage.

Close it indefinitely.
The type of illegal immigration on our southern border is not needed, EVER!

GOP lawmakers have said a change to tighten initial
asylum screening standards alone isn’t enough.

Repubs have broadened their demands to include
<><>a massive expansion of immigration detention for asylum seekers,
<><>the ability to send asylum seekers to other countries the U.S. deems are safe
<><>and limits on an immigration status known as “humanitarian parole.”

Biden has used “parole” expansively (a) to let in hundreds of thousands of refugees from
the Ukraine war, and (b) so-called asylum seekers at the border who sign up in advance.

“It appears you’re moving away from Biden’s war.”

Nice try, kid.

You know full well that I’ve been saying since Day One that I support Ukraine defending itself against the Russian invasion in spite of who Ukraine’s president was or who our president was. And, of course, your calling it “Biden’s War” is a typical slander — so common with you — as Ukraine would have fought regardless; and, in all probability, would have lost within a year (Ukraine did not start receiving the major aid until months after the invasion). The aid and support Ukraine received from the West gave it a fighting chance, which is a concept I doubt you understand.

Trying to coerce this lawless regime into enforcing immigration law is a lost cause.

They should amend the law to allow states to seize and deport illegal aliens, require e-verify, and add a tax of $150/hr for every hour worked by an illegal alien payable by the employer.

So, we're supposed to be happy about this after Biden has let 10 more million illegals in, including hoards of criminals?

Republicans shouldn't have passed a single budget without assurances the border was secure.

The Republican establishment is transparent joke. It's business interests now have enough illegals in their employment pools that they can now take a "tough" stance. No one with half a brain would fall for this.

The damage has been done and Republican business interests have their illegal workforce. That’s the only reason the establishment Republicans are getting “tough” now.
